Pretty old thread, but deserving of a bump. Verdict reached:

A jury has acquitted two former Fullerton, California, police officers on trial in the beating death of Kelly Thomas, a mentally ill and homeless man.

The verdict was read in a Santa Ana courtroom Monday afternoon. Eight women and four men began deliberating the case on Thursday.

"I'm just horrified. They got away with murdering my son," Cathy Thomas, the victim's mother, told reporters after the verdict was read.

The victim's father, Ron Thomas, said that everyone now needs to be afraid.

"This is carte blanche to police officers to do whatever they want," he told reporters.

The beating of Thomas in a transit parking lot was recorded by security cameras on the night of July 5, 2011. The surveillance camera footage shows Thomas being beaten, clubbed and stunned with a Taser by police. The video sparked a nationwide outcry.

Former officer Manuel Ramos was charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. A second former Fullerton officer, Jay Cicinelli, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and excessive use of force.

Both were found not guilty on all charges.

Pretty insane that police can beat an unarmed man to death (who was pleading for his life) and get away with it. Don't even know who the good guys are anymore.

I am outraged about this death. A clear cut case of brutality. All of those involved should be stripped of their badges and put into jail.

Its a shame people put ALL Police in the same class as some bad ones, Yes some are bad , But their are allot of Good ones that do their best to help people in need, So lets get the guns taken away from our Police Officers, So our children can be murdered in our schools, our wives and children can be raped, and molested, So thugs can invade our homes, Rob our Stores, so lets put ALL the Police in this Class. People who live in Glass houses shouldn't throw stones before they have all the Facts. Like ive said before Tim Tebow in not a NFL football player, He don't Carry guns, beat women, Rape . smoke dope, snort drugs, Stab people, Hes not a gang banger, Yes he not a NFL player. Thank You

I don't think any one is linking all cops together . I have known a bunch of them and they are some pretty good guys.
But the thugs that beat a mentally impaired man to death are the outsiders.
There is no excuse for this . The guy was unarmed and they couldn't subdue him with little or no harm ?
This was murder . And Locke is right it is someone that no one cares about .
The cops are supposed to know better .
