Ron Wolf went for the dough

I can't believe this guy as I stated he went for the dough, he never really wanted anything else it appears...

Wolf accepts job with Browns as part-time consultant

CLEVELAND - Former Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf said Wednesday he will be a personnel specialist for the Cleveland Browns, who plan to announce his hiring Thursday.

Wolf said he would evaluate players on a part-time basis for coach Butch Davis while working from his home in Annapolis, Md.

``I'm not a decision-maker or anything like that. Whatever little task Butch has for me to do, I'll do,'' Wolf said by telephone from his home.

The 65-year-old Wolf retired in 2001 after 11 years as Green Bay's executive vice president and general manager. He built the 1996 team that won the Super Bowl and the 1997 NFC championship club.

I cant blame him. He saw the operation we got and said we "they dont need me". So he went where the fans still fill the seats even when there team is 4-12.

    We don't need him anyway

He will one day replace Jason Taylor. On the field, not on dancing with the stars.

Ron Wolf takes job with the Browns

What in the world is going on here??? We tried everything in our power to get this guy as part of our F.O. and he declines by saying that he wants to stay retired. Now, all of a sudden, he is personnel specialist with Cleveland. What the F??? Where did we go wrong? He would have been very helpful.

This gives me a bad feeling about our management/front office...
Offseason again... at least this one should be exciting!

He was without question the #1 guy out there for the job. I can't believe Wayne lowballed him on the money, he really wanted him. This makes us look bad. Sort of inept IMO.

I think the most interesting thing in the article was the fact that he could work from his house. The Fins might have wanted him to at least travel some to see prospects.

    the real reason...

Wolf has turned down several full-time job offers, most recently with the Dolphins, but says he took the Browns’ gig because of his long-standing relationship with Browns coach Butch Davis; Wolf and Davis are both represented by the same agent.

and Cleve has a similiar need fro him:
One of Wolf’s first duties will be the evaluation of quarterbacks Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb.

Sure...you can take a fact-less view of how this makes our FO look, but is it really fair to say that this makes our FO look inept?

    The facts:

We tried to hire him, eventually simply as a consultant, he said no, that he wanted to stay retired.

Then...he takes a job with the Browns (working with a guy that's a LONG TIME friend of his).

    The guesses:

Miami didn't offer him enough $$$...He thought Miami's organization is lame...he didn't want to travel....etc etc etc....no basis.

    Summary:

I say Wolf should be the one who looks less than honorable in this situation. Why lie and say you want to stay retired, when you know all along a buddy of yours wants you to help, and that you'll probably go work with him (which is a guess...but not a stab in the dark as it supports facts).

But sure I guess....its the Dolphins FO fault for not scouting him out several years ago and sending a representative of the organization to be his "buddy." Buncha idiots.............
