If Lex is making the minimum as stated (or anywhere near that), I think he will be extended ... because contrary to a lot of chatter, we're thin on talent & depth. I think he's on the team until another can take his Roster Spot for RB & Special Teams.

These recent seasons scream we need talent ... (AND we don't want to get beat from Special Teams again) ...
    2004 4-12
    2005 9-7
    2006 6-10
    2007 1-15
2008 11-5 ... ave. talent, but Pennington won a lot of close games
    2009 7-9
    2010 7-9
2011 6-10 ... Moore saved our bacon from the fire

Bet 30 minutes after he's cut Tony has him at right tackle for the jets.

How sure are you about that? He was drafted in 2008. Typically a man with 4 years in the NFL is an unrestricted free agent.

I'd like to keep Hilliard. He can play ST's, block, run the ball, and can catch out of the backfield. Since he makes almost nothing, it's worth keeping him.

Rotoworld has Lex listed as a restricted free agent and this web site
    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/yearly/
has Lex as an unrestricted free agent

I'm going to go with unrestricted

    First year on practice squad.

Messam is also coming back from a knee injury (ACL? repair) which could take a full year before he preforms at NFL level, perhaps longer. This could place in on the practice squad?

It was not Messam's ACL or he'd still be in bad shape since it happened in November.
Please God, let me see 1 Dolphins Superbowl victory before I die.

I'd like to keep Lex as well. I saw the footage of the Canadian RB on here, if I were Lex, I wouldn't be to worried. I know it's early but the guy looked like a 3rd or 4th string NFL player in those clips.
