    It was his choice.

I was "hands off" most of his life, which I regret to a degree. Everyone always tells you about how
you shouldn't live your life though your kid, and I was very concious of that. He didn't play football,
even though he SHOULD have. The kid had a nose for the ball, and a desire for the ball. He developed into
one of those guys that develope...Symetrical, broad shoulders, narrow hips....

    "BALL!"

I swear to god that dude was a pit bull without ANY training other than what I gave him.

We actually had the staff at Copperas Cove HS recruit him. "Have you thought about Travis going out for football?"
When the Copperas Cove HS staff shows up at your door and asks you, it means you should.

I sat him down and asked him if that was really in his heart.

It wasn't, and I could see it, and it was better that he didn't get into Texas football. It's a commitment.

I'm much more proud of him now.

Don't force it into him if it's not his will.

His mother will have to let go at some point.

Hopefully he will stay safe and sound and come back a man and better person for the experience! From the little I could see he appears to be a nice looking boy so can we assume he's got his mom to thank for that?

Incidentally Goon, last year one hot and sunny Sunday morning I ran over to the Swap Shop in Sunrise to pick up some bike tires but forgot to take a hat so I bought one of those premium overruns the vendors sell for a buck or 2. Didn't care what it said, only that it looked okay but here's the thing: it had a "Copperas Cove" emblem. I actually liked the way the black hat with red trim fit, began wearing it often and in no time strangers started asking me where and or what it was.. and that included a bagger at Publix last night! Damned if I knew

Whoever took the second pic timed it just right....you can see the spent case flying out of the chamber.

M4s are cool as hell! Lighter, smaller and a helluvalot easier to learn to shoot if you've never done it before. Not like the old M16s or A1s we used 25 years ago.
