Really? You guys think that Sparano quote was bad? To me, it seemed like he was trying to trigger their self-preservation.

"If you won't fight for me, fight for yourselves cause you will be gone too"

That's a LEGITIMATE tactic. Do you know what one of the greatest Generals in history did during a battle? The battle looked lost, they were outnumbered and losing... the soldiers were losing their will to fight and running away........ so the General led his men to a big river, with no escape, and the enemy right behind them. They had no choice but to turn around and fight with their backs to the river. He told his men, fight or you die here anyway. Guess who won the battle? He did. The men fought with more brutality than the other army, and he won.

I forget the name of the General, but I think he was an ancient chinese general. It worked on the principle that a man with no hope of escape will instinctively fight for his life with the ferocity of a cornered beast, and in so doing become an unbeatable warrior.

So, it seems to me, Sparano was just trying to get them to fight for their own careers....

None of this should come as any surprise about Sparano ... he was a dummy & disaster in front of our eyes & REAL OBVIOUS the last 2 years.

What was was more surprising is how the majority here supported Sparano ... and even AFTER FIRED, I'd say a good 75% were chiming in "but he's a nice guy". Don't think he ever was a nice guy, fans are just GULLIBLE even watching with their own eyes.

Lesson learned fans: Let's just watch & see how the new coaching staff Really Does .... RESULTS NOW, PERIOD!!! None of this mumbo jumbo like cam & meatball excuses!! ... no future continuity, no next year, no locker room kumbaya ... no nothing, NOW bee-otches!!

Get above the Mendoza Line & stay there for starters ... it ain't that hard for a decent NFL Coach.

It’s easy for Philbin to come off as charming, especially since Tony Sparano’s relationship with his team grew so sour. Linebacker
    Kevin Burnett
recalled that when the Dolphins started the year 0-6, Sparano told the team: “‘You know what? If you guys want to lose and be 0-16 and get me out of here, no problem. But guess what? I’m not going to be the only one gone, and that’s just the reality of this business.’”

and the Jets think this guy is their savior? Wait til they get a few losses, Sparano will be talking like this once again.

So glad we have Philbin now
IDK, Was what Sparano said true? Just asking....

I interpret it as true - in that his perception was that the players had more than enough of him and would go to extremes to be rid of their coaching albatross. It has often appeared that Tony is clueless, but I guess in this case his interpretation was on point.

I believe any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle...Victorious

I am glad that idiot Sparano is gone. Never saw more idiot coaching then when that guy was here. Over 2 minutes before the half of the Jets game and the guy runs out the clock. I can't believe this guy even found another job in the NFL. He has no sense of clock management at all!

He wasn't a good coach but he wasn't a terrible one. He was decent, and this is getting absurd if you guys think that this was a bad quote. He's basically saying man the **** up and stop being a bunch of vags. Fight for your position and careers. Something they weren't doing.

And you know what? Screw Kevin Burnett. He was one of the reasons we were 0-6 last year, he should be the last person to talk. One of the worst players on the field the first half of the season before he decided to finally clean it up.

Everyone was to blame last season.
