They should follow Portugal's model in that regard, if that is, they were actually more concerned with helping people, & not keeping the prisons filled with warm bodies because of mandatory minimum occupancy requirements & cheap labor. That said, it's certainly weird to witness the fact that you can get 1-4 years in Nevada for selling an eighth of bud, & then a couple miles west you have a place like California.
    States rights, baby!

Anyway, just because drugs should be legal doesn't mean that you necessarily have to feel the same about dealers as you do about users. Or maybe it's just me. But if I were, say, a cop (which would never happen), I would have an issue arresting someone for mere possession but would have no issue at all arresting someone for dealing. Now, I'm aware of the laws about possession of a certain amount implying intent to distribute. Those are bull****, to me. But that's not what I'm talking about.

In this country a person at 18 is deemed to be enough of a man to fight, kill or be killed in a war for this country. He's also deemed, at the same age, to be responsible and mature enough to decide who is the president of the country and who all the other elected officials are. It's not until 3 years later is he deemed responsible enough to buy a beer

Thing is you used to not be able to vote until you were 21, too. Which made it more uniform, in a way.

18 year olds: Old enough to take orders/absorb gunfire.
21 year ollds: Old enough to make decisions.

The voting thing changed but I think that's still the way middle aged America basically feels about it.

As 19-year-old Boston bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev awaits trial, a legion of Americans -- often teenage girls -- has been furiously filling the Internet with fan club sites and support groups.

Alisha, a blond, blue-eyed 18-year-old from Topeka, Kan., is one of these Tsarnaev's "fans." Using her Twitter handle @keepitbluntedd, Alisha has been questioning the government's case against the younger Tsarnaev brother...

ABC News adds that this phenomenon is not limited to "cute" teenage suspects, either.

Luka Magnotta, the so-called "Cannibal killer," has a devoted female fan base as well, the outlet reports. Accused Aurora shooter James Holmes had a legion of fan girls all his own, including Aurora, Colo., resident Misty Benjamin, who told reporters she was "physically attracted" to Holmes.

"When I get upset, I look at his picture and I calm down," she said at the time.

I think I can comfortably say that Karnivool is the best progressive rock band out right now.

I nearly did, then begged off when I heard a few too many bad things.
