Ambrose Bierce is the name on that list that jumps out to me. I've always meant to buy his book the Devil's Dictionary as a show of solidarity for his take on humanity, but the best bits are pretty much on the internet already.

    For example: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/au...se_bierce.html

    "Are you a doctor?"
    "Mantis Toboggan, M.D."

In our civilization, and under our republican form of government, intelligence is so highly honored that it is rewarded by exemption from the cares of office.

Normally I wouldn't recommend going to see a movie when visiting a city, unless it's a boring ****hole like Dallas. But in the case of Austin, absolutely. Plus you can eat and drink all you want before and during the movie, so if you can catch a premiere or one of their MANY other events, do it.

They have events and whatnot at their Katy, San Antonio, and New Braunfels locations too (my parents live in Sealy and I used to hit up the New Braunfels Wurstfest every year). Probably not nearly as often as the ones in Austin though. Ton of movie events during SXSW.

Watching Match Point right now. It's alright, but I'm a little bored.
