senior bowl day 2 full pads south squad...(the more talented one off what i'm seeing...ha ha)

i'm glad daniel jeremiah and mike mayock put to bed all that ezekial ansah is jpp stuff...that kids not anywhere near as explosive or physical tools wise in the same ball park as jpp...put that stuff to bed...ansahs rediculously raw as a pass rusher and has no rush arsenal...we take that in the top 12 i will punch a baby...pump the brakes

didn't take long for me to get to see the dbs and wrs in this group for me to really like what i was seeing...tavares king is by far the best looking wr prospect on either squad...holy hell...runs beautiful routes explosive no wasted movement great feet...separates in and out of cuts and explodes to the football...all i can say is wow...stems his routes using leverage and when he puts his foot in the ground and makes a cut he's gone...i'm not kidding you that kid looks filthy

the small school corners alford and webb have nice tools...alfords very impressive...has closing speed shows long speed quick acceleration...long and lanky fluid hips fires out of his pedal and drives forward...reminds me of a more explosive and polished keenan lewis when he came out....can i get that in the 3rd round??? sign me the hell up...

webb competes has plus hips and transitions well drives on the ball i don't see alfords upside but for a mid round pick i'm very interested...

good day for leon mcfadden of san diego st i have some questions about long speed there...

lane johnson from oklahoma looks as fluid as any tackle in the class...doesn't even have to use his hands that much his feet look so good and he sits down well natural knee bender...i'm in the 1st round tackle mode there unless i see something on tape that changes things...

my guy oday aboushi looked slow footed and struggled against speed..his college tape is better than that so i'm a little frustrated with what i saw there...

larry warford of kentucky is a massive guard with a big lower half who bends well and sits down well in pass pro...looks like a nice top 75 pick guard...probably a power scheme given his size...but he's athletic for that size

the te mcdonald out of rice is interesting now...6 ft 5 262 lbs and he has down the seam speed...natural hands catcher??? all i know is he's the most interesting te in attendance...got to find me some rice stuff now...i doubt he can block a lick though

quinton patton is quick twitch but not ultra fast...reminds me of reggie wayne in a lot of ways...smooth uses his hands well runs good routes and locates the football...i think he'd fit our o like a glove...wouldn't surprise me if he runs low 4.5's

bama te williams you want to talk about a sluggish looking guy in his routes...yeesh...makes fasano look fast

wr cobi hamilton is very upright in his routes...possesses build up speed like ted ginn...doesn't drop his hips...pass

terence williams showed off over the top vertical speed but had some issues getting off press and needed to use his hands more...

hoops scoops 2012 season ..."in 2014 ryan tannehill etches his name in stone amongst the games elite qbs"..."ryan tannehill and andrew luck will carry the afc for the next decade plus the way peyton manning and tom brady have this last decade plus"

Good ****, hoops. I was unable to catch anything from the 2nd day, so this is awesome.

I read that Daniel Jeremiah said that Wheaton looked excellent - beating the press with quickness on a consistent basis. If it's not obvious, I'm high on Wheaton, so if you had any thoughts there. that'd be cool.

    D. Jones is a guy I'd like Miami to give a serious look. Not that much smaller than Odrick, so with coaching, I think he should be a solid run defender (especially the way he's worked on his hands), and he can do some nice things as a pass rusher. It'll just depend on his draft stock. I think Okafor can be a solid player, but right now, I have him falling back down into the 2nd. Just not enough wow to warrant a 1st. I'd draft Carradine coming off an injury before Okafor.

Patton would be perfect in this offense. I think he should be there at 42. One of the reasons I'm fine passing on WR in the 1st. But you say that King easily looked like the better WR? From where I'm sitting, that's high praise.

    Again, good stuff, hoops.

yeah wheatons ability to get off the los with initial quickness has been impressive...but he can be rerouted by guys riding him and lose physically at the top of his route...some of that is probably pi but some of it also is the kid needs to get stronger and use his hands more...i see dbs riding him on his side with a hand on his shoulder and easily able to redirect him and move him off the chosen path...

he's explosive probably has the most polish of any wr on the north squad and if i was gonna take a wr from that group it would be wheaton or dobson...wheatons feet and burst shows but he also gets man handled at times...

given the depth of the wr class i think he's a guy that is likely still there early in round 3 maybe late round 2 cause it only takes one team to fall in love with you...

d jones doesn't play as big as odrick if they are close to the same size...seems to be jones looks more a 275 lb guy or so but he's very explosive and quick twitch off the ball and like has been said his polish with his hands is impressive...i think he'll struggle at the poa vs the run early on though...

it was just one on ones but yeah king was terrific in that setting...watch the way that kid comes out of his cuts to the ball...he's got serious explosion to the football...and the route running feet and the way he geared down with no wasted movement was simply terrific...

i like patton at #42 just like i like robert woods and steadman bailey also...patton is not as explosive as king showed yesterday...king also has what looks like very good length...

and i'm not kidding you guys on that corner alford get a look at that kid...he's got outstanding tools...and he's got burst in all facets...his upside may be the highest of any corner at the senior bowl...

I was pretty impressed with Cornelius Washington the DE from Georgia yesterday in one-on-ones hoops. He showed some good speed and power.

Ok controversial question for your guys.

Honey Badger in rounds 4-6 to replace Marshall in the nickle is he worth the risk? Would you pull the trigger? If he really has grown up it could be an absolute steal! ... of course it could blow up in our faces as well.

senior bowl day 3 full pads north final observations...

well i've seen 2 full days of pads worth of work feel like i have a pretty good feel for who to target and who to pass on...

the only 2 wrs that would interest me are wheaton and dobson...wheaton a full round higher...today wheaton not only showed the quickness to get off the los well burst the vertical speed the acceleration and the ability to separate down the field...if not for the depth of the wr talent in the draft i think he'd be a lock 2nd rounder...as it is i think he's a top 75 guy worst case who likely falls in the 2nd half of round 2 to first half of round 3...

dobsons a big body and of the big body wrs on the roster he's got the most going for him but he's been sluggish out of his cuts and breaks and i just don't see a lot of respect for his ability to drive on a corner and get them to bail...mid round guy for me 4th round is more where i'd look his way...can he win in the red zone??? maybe...does he play to his size??? ehhh...

eric fishers a 1st round tackle that is getting helped by lewan and matthews decisions to stay in school...today the tendency to get too high in his pass pro and let guys get under his pads and walk him back to the qb with the bull rush showed up...same thing i saw watching his college tape and noted in this very thread prior...i don't think he's worth a top 10 pick personally but i won't rule it happening out given team needs but i do think he's a top 20 worthy guy

brian winters looks like a mid round guard to me who teams will like for his nasty streak and the way he finishes...he's just a nasty son of a gun with decent feet and movement skills but has a tendency to overset and get beat by initial quickness...

dave quessenberry has a body that has me wondering how much more good weight he can handle i see some left guard kick inside abilities there but i wonder if around 295 is gonna be his peak weight...looks like a late 2nd early 3rd round prospect to me who fits a zbs...has plus feet natural knee bender uses his hands well and is rarely off balance...this kid helped himself this week...

kyle longs probably the only other guy that interest me and i just really struggle with his lack of strength...there's meat on the bone to work with there...but you're gonna have to wait on it...whatever he does i bet it's in a zone blocking scheme...2 years from now he might be a player

datone jones quickness off the ball and hand use has been terrific...another guy that really helped himself...is he really though a win edge pass rusher or a nickle kick inside rush specialist??? i don't know...what i do know is off this week he's probably worked his way into a top 75 pick...i'm not sure i see a every down player there though...i see potential tweener there

brandon williams the dt from d2 carries that 341 lbs well and he's shown enough where he'll be drafted...probably somewhere on day 3...

alex okafor as long as teams don't look at him as an every down player to begin with which would be a mistake given how much he forgoes the run on college tape in an effort to get upfield has locked himself into a 1st round selection imo...he's the best looking pass rusher on the north squad maybe the best looking pass rusher on the edge period here...i don't think he's worth a top 15 pick though...no wow factor

sylvester williams flashed explosive short area quickness and ability to get into the backfield and shoot gaps all week...he's a top 50 pick dt all the way...best looking interior 43 dt player here...wouldn't surprise me if he went as high as mid 1st round when it's all said and done...

kawann short just isn't very explosive he's more a power player trying to play a penetration game that i don't think should be considered by anyone before the 3rd round...although i could see someone pulling the trigger in the 2nd...

michael buchanon i hope you can play standing up...his future if he has any is at 34 olb...he's not even on my radar...

at lb khaseeme greene is interesting but he doesn't show off elite speed or high end explosion...solid prospect more a late 2nd early 3rd guy imo...

at cb desmond trufant stole the show...likely locked up a top 50 pick...i'm serious when i say he may be the 3rd corner off the board come draft day...coming in at 5 ft 11 really helped him...that and he was dominant all week

jordan poyer somewhere in the 2nd half of round 2 is where i see his value...although i don't see much upside left in his game...if he runs well i think 2nd half of round 2 if he runs slow wouldn't shock me if he was on the board in early to mid round 3...depends on just how slow he is...i'm thinking mid to late 4.5's...good feet and hips though and route recognition...

philip thomas lack of long speed showed up both in one on ones and 11 on 11...his instincts and ball skills at safety will make up for some of that so i say he's a pick in the 50-75 range...i don't think he's a first round safety though

other guys that caught my eye a little include duke williams who for a safety was pretty solid in one on ones the cb gratz in a developmental way the cb taylor although he didn't look very comfortable in anything other than press to me and the fiu kid cyprien who showed some burst and some pop this week albeit in a raw overall game...

Trufant is going in the first round. I think he will go after Millner. He is way better than a top 50 pick. You are underrating him.

Fisher is most def. going top ten. No doubt. Best player in Mobile IMO.

Glad to hear that Wheaton is doing well. Bucky Brooks had a thing on nfl.com, where he said Wheaton has easily been the most impressive WR at the Senior Bowl. I don't put too much stock into Brooks' opinions, but considering the players on the South squad, that's high praise. I'd have no problem pulling the trigger on Wheaton at 54. He gives us one of the things we're severely lacking, and he's not a guy who is content just being a deep threat. Think he'll interview very well too. Seems like a humble guy with a good head on his shoulders. Pair him with a Robert Woods, and I think you've gone a long way toward addressing the WR position.

Totally agree with this. Short looks like a big body who can lean on college kids but will find he isn't all that powerful in the big leagues. Williams is a stud. He's got an array of moves and he's very explosive for his size - which is already 20 or 30 lbs less than what he was. I've asked the question before- could this guy slim down more and play DE?

Philip Thomas is awful, imo. Slow, terrible angles to the ball, completely missing in periods of the game. Misses a lot of tackles - some from arriving late and some from bad technique. Then he reads a play perfectly and makes a pick - but it's the only good thing in a litany of awful things. Who knows, maybe Coyle wants a guy like that who has the ball skills but little else, so he can coach him up. Fine in the 5th round, I say.

Duke Williams is a very tidy safety. Very fast and very physical. Like him and DJ Swearinger. But I just got a chance to watch a couple of FIU games Johnathan Cyprien was in and I was blown away. They weren't perfect - there were a few mistakes in there - but everything else was near damn perfect. Long, muscular, fast, physical, decisive, great feet, good angles. Maybe over-commits in the tackle sometimes, but there's a hell of a lot to like.

i already said trufant may be the 3rd corner off the board...as for fish there was no top 10 pick in mobile last year he's not a lock to be one this year either once the underclassmen are evaluated...

trufant also needs to run well at the combine and pro day...but i expect that will happen...mid to late 4.4's

fish is gonna get some competition from joeckel who has better feet and is a little bit more athletic and a great zbs fit and that lane johnson kid who moves like a te but at 300 plus lbs...lane johnson is an impressive athlete
