Slimm, would love to hear your thoughts on Robey. The easy comparison seems to be Mathieu without the baggage. Is that fair?

I think Robey brings some of the same value that Mathieu brings in terms of being a smaller nickel/ slot corner that also adds value as a punt returner.... although not quite the punt return ability that Mathieu has.

However, Robey is much better in coverage to me. Reminds me a little bit of Tim Jennings when he came out of Georgia.

Slimm, I need your take on Tavon Austin from West Virginia. Watching him tear up my Longhorns, it looked like he was always going a different speed and puts up huge #'s. I'm seeing he's a mid round guy, what are your thoughts?

    Sign: Daryn Colledge
Draft: 1. LB Ryan Shazier 2. OL Joel Bitonio 3. WR Donte Moncrief 4. OL Brandon Thomas 5. OT Laurent Duvernay Tardif 6. RB Bo Oliver 7. TBD

LT Albert LG Smith C Pouncey RG Colledge RT Bitonio

Probably the best combination of slot receiver/return ability in the Senior class of receivers. I think you have to look at small, fast players like Tavon Austin and assess their limitations first... after you've come to that understanding, assess their skills and talent. Figure out if a player like this can fit and be a weapon in your particular style of offense. He's a luxury pick for the most part, and will produce if he goes to the right place.

I think the ideal role for players like this if you can make it happen is similar to what Jermaine Lewis was for the Ravens in the mid 90's.. he was a pro bowler for a couple of seasons as a slot receiver/return specialist at about 5'7", 180 pounds. Lewis came off the board in the 5th round, although Austin likely comes off earlier than that.... 3rd/4th round area probably.

Az-Zahir Hakim was a similar type player for the Rams and Kurt Warner back when they had the best offense in the league.

In other words, this is not the type of player you're going to make your first option on offense in the NFL..... he's limited to the slot as a receiver. However, if you're an offense looking for more of a dynamic, 3rd or 4th option on offense, and looking to upgrade your return units on special teams.... the potential is there to strike oil with a talent like Tavon Austin. He typically plays at a different speed against everybody, not just Texas.

I can't speak on him because I haven't spent any time on defensive players for the Wolverines this year... literally none. I typically spend my time on Michigan towards a few kids on the offensive side.

Slimm would you consider Swope a underrated guy? Do you see him as a definite target maybe with one of our 2nd rounders or will he not even make it THAT far?

Personally I see Jordy Nelson in him and well Philbin having Nelson and both our OC and QB are very familiar with him makes me think they are all over him. I know we need a boundary guy do you see us trying to get him as well because you cannot have too many receivers in this league.

Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.
