I'd rather have a great safety please.

this franchise hasn't had one of those since forever. He doesn't have to be Ed Reed, Troy Polomalu, Ronnie Lott, Brian Dawkins,,,, but a guy like Darren Sharper in his prime, or a guy like Adrian Wilson of the Cards (who I've loved as a player for the past 10 years and is underrated).. who's a superb all-around safety who's tough as nails, can make plays in coverage, and is smart as hell,, a great QB for the secondary

Even if you add a corner to this defense, our safeties are trash in pass coverage and it will make a marginal difference overall. However, if you add a very good all-around safety to this defense......

It's no secret that most of the super bowl winners had terrific safety play... just look at the list over the years.

LAron Landry ?? pffft, he's just an "in-the-box" guy, one of those glorified LB's who absolutely sucks in coverage, he's another Louis Oliver who should have been a LB and not a safety ( Oliver even admitted to this in a radio interview last year). Those "in-the-box" run-only types of safeties are slowly becoming extinct in this league.

We are going to have to draft our great safety. You don't see great safeties being moved or released by teams. Teams keep guys like Polamalu, Reed, Adrian Wilson, the kid from Seattle, and the like.

Only when they are old and look to have lost 2 steps is when they are let go. Like Ronnie Lott out of San Fran to the Jets after his hall of fame career with the 49'ers, and Darren Sharper who was well into his 30's going to New Orleans (of course he still had 10 INT's with the Saints during his first year and they won the super bowl - the Saints defense was totally different adding 2 dimensions to their D with just the addition of Sharper-- over a team in the super bowl with another very good but underrated safety - Antoine Bethea who was amazing that year -- and Bob Sanders whenever he was healthy)

Meanwhile, good corners move all the time from one team to the next,, every year. Great safeties are awesome to have as they make your entire secondary better. And teams know this, and this is why teams keep them at all costs once they have a special safety on their roster.

ps- Ireland wanted Bethea 2 years ago but Indy said he can only be traded for a 1st round pick. Ireland said no. You see, teams don't throw around very good safeties. Funny that Vontae Davis, who played as a top 10 corner in the final 9 games of the season last year (according to PFF), was had for less., a 2nd round pick. A young Antonio Cromartie was traded for a 3rd round pick after he had 10 INT's recently before the trade... you just don't see very good safeties in their prime being moved like that -- teams are smart enough to keep them

We will have to draft our great safety. The difference Earl Thomas makes on Seattle's overall secondary is absolutely ridiculous. Do you think they'll trade Thomas to us anytime soon ?? lol, no - Thomas is a Seahawk for life. We have to draft our guy. That's what we need for this secondary, and for this defense in general.
