NFL.com Rookie QB rankings- Tannehill #1

    1. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins

It's close, but this would be my choice for the best performance by a rookie quarterback all season. It's the type of game that no one thought Tannehill had in him this fast. It's the type of game that should leave Dolphins cautiously giddy despite the final score.
Tannehill shows a lot of elite traits and put them all together against the Arizona Cardinals. He faced far more pressure than any game this season, but was uncannily accurate. He started to look like a veteran with great movement in the pocket. He changed plays and protection. He ran a little no huddle. He tried to quick snap the Cardinals. He ran a nice two minute drill. He avoided sacks.

All of the above bodes well for Tannehill's development, but his throwing ability sets him apart. He hit a lot of tough plays into tight windows. He always shows a lot of confidence in his arm. On one of his interceptions, the receiver fell. Tannehill's arm was hit on the overtime interception, but he did not get rid of the ball quickly enough when he knew a blitz was coming.
This was an electric game against a great defense. It's only one game, but it changed how I view Tannehill's ceiling this season.

I wonder how tanny felt right after the game, was he excited like a lot of fans that he put up nice numbers and made some great plays or did he feel like **** because he not only lost but threw a pick the last time he touched the ball.

Man if he didn't get hit on that last INT it would have been a big play. He was going to Hartline and Hartline had two steps on the the DB covering him. Probably would have put us inside the 20 at least.

Yep. Stats may not be pretty, but you can see the difference week in and week out with this rookie's improvement. I can finally see why this regime was so excited to get this kid in here, they finally found something's special. Time will tell where this kid goes but so far all signs point to the sky's people.
The superior man blames himself. The inferior man blames others.

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

No Peyton Manning, No Matt Flynn, No David Garrard, and yet we shine.

Ryan has displayed veteran[like] poise way beyond his years. Mistakes are a given for any rookie QB, but what you'll like to see is the ability to learn from the mishaps, and to improve on execution. Showing that you can adapt to what your opponent is doing is crucial as well. Maybe even more so than wins, these are the things you'd like to see to be able to make a firm and sound decision on whether or not they're worthy of being a franchise QB.

We are 1/4 through the season, the 2/4 portion will be very telling on if we indeed found "the one". Ryan must walk a fine line between continuing to be assertive in the passing game by airing it out, yet being very mindful about protecting the football and making it a high priority. For me, this will be the most significant sign of true progress.
