An American flag has been waving upturned on a front lawn in Florida for the past few days. The upside-down flag, a symbol of distress, has upset neighbors in Palm Bay who consider the gesture disrespectful, especially on Veterans Day.
The family flying the flag, on the other hand, claimed that the gesture stems from their disappointment after the re-election of President Barack Obama, according to Fox-affiliate WOGX-TV.
The residents posted a paper to their front door to explain their rationale for the distress signal. The message – citing Title 36, Chapter 10of the U.S. Flag Code — argues that many traitors foreign and domestic have committed unconstitutional acts against U.S. citizens.
“I believe the life, liberty and property of US citizens are in dire danger and distress,” the sign read.
