I honestly think Gaine will become the GM either next season or the year after but it won't be because Ireland is gone it will be because Ireland becomes VP of football operations.

Do people like Elliott Wolf because Elliott Wolf is qualified, or do people like Elliott Wolf because Elliott Wolf is Ron Wolf's son?

    Be honest.

Blood lines didn't work out too great with Chris Polian.
Or Jeff Ireland, for that matter.

When we have a team that is a strong playoff team/Superbowl contender then us fans will believe. Until then, everything is all talk and no action.

Assuming Ireland is fired, any new GM likely is going to come in having not "done jack". Unless they hire a retread GM who would have failed and been fired at a previous stop (guys like Polian and Peterson). The downside with the retread GM is that they likely would want their own head coach pick, which means a complete blow up of the front office and coaching staff. However a first time GM, like a Brian Gaine type, might be more inclined to stick with the current head coach. The thing is, if Ross makes a change at GM after this season(still a big if imo), it is probably going to be a first time GM and not a Polian or Peterson type. The question is, what makes Gaine any less qualified then a first time GM from another team like the Packers or Steelers?

One route we can take is to promote Brian Gaine. I dont know much about him other than he came from Dallas but it would insure that we keep philbin and tannehill. Another option would be to hire Carl Peterson who was a big reason we hired Philbin and said it was the best job interview he has ever been involved in so he wont get rid of philbin. Or peterson and ross can conduct a search and hire somebody new under the conditions they keep Philbin and Tannehill.
    Peterson would be just GREAT.

Because Gaine has to take some blame for the lack of talent out team has also. He is NOT going to go blameless with our crap we have on our team.

The fact that our free agent acquisitions have on the whole been poor. Presumably whatever GM we hire will at least have a track record of success in their previous role.

Gaine has the stench of Ireland all over him. Carl Peterson will be the GM next season.
