TV Bob Costas blasted for delivering anti-gun message during Sunday Night Football

Bob Costas appeared to bring politics into the NFL broadcast booth on Sunday night, saying better gun control could have prevented the horrific murder-suicide committed by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher.

Costas delivered his nationally televised message by paraphrasing part of a column written by Jason Whitlock on FoxSports.com. In the column, Whitlock writes: "What I believe is, if he didnít possess/own a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."

Costas made the anti-gun statement during halftime of NBC's Sunday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

His words were viewed by some as political grandstanding.

"The Media Left at Halftime: Bob Costas pushing gun control, quoting...who else?..a sports writer on ridding the country of the 2nd Amendment," Lou Dobbs tweeted.

"Bob Costas, whoís gotten rich thanks in part to a sport that destroys menís bodies and brains, gives us a little civics lecture," tweeted TV commentator Andy Levy.

The horrific suicide of an unidentified Cleveland Browns groundskeeper could have been prevented if we had better rope control in America. Had this groundskeeper not possessed/owned a long enough piece of rope, he would still be alive. We could solve a lot of problems in this country by simply making it illegal to kill others.

But then where would our constitutionally protected right to auto erotic asphyxiation be? Some things just aren't worth sacrificing.

Sucks that people can't even have an opinion anymore without getting ripped to shreds. If he was a politician or something, I could see the backlash...

If I could take your pain and frame it, and hang it on my wall,
maybe you would never have to hurt again...

Oh stop it, if Bob had gotten up there and said, "Jesus Christ is God and abortion is murder!" you'd be outraged that a sports analyst would waste your time with his opinions on such issues, but since you agree with Bob now all of the sudden you're all for freedom of ideas (as long as they are the same as your ideas).

Your point is invalid considering I disagree with the man...

How does Obama agree with the man? He hasn't done a damn thing to even address gun control, nevermind attempt to pass something. You need to know what you're talking about before spewing your garbage. Anyone who had even half the degrees you claim you do would know this...
