Video 1 Watch a Classic Game! 1986 Divisional Playoffs Browns @ Dolphins

This is kind of cool. Just stumbled upon this. For the fans like me who weren't really old enough to watch games back then, watching this video is kind of like watching a live game with Marino and all the classic players if you don't know the outcome. Enjoy!

It is very interesting to see guys like Bokamper, Joe Rose and Nat Moore playing together in the game. A lot of big name Dolphin players on this squad.

The game sure was different back then. The Browns seemed like they ran on every down. The WRs all ran much slower routes. Its like none of the WRs ever went full stride. And damn, Marino's laser arm... I don't think the NFL ever saw anything like that ever again.

I remember I missed the game cause I had to work. I also was surprised that Cleveland played Miami that tough and the game was that close. Ah, the good 'ol days - when Miami actually won games they were supposed to.

Two bits of trivia about this game--

    1) This would be the last time that the Dolphins would win a playoff game in the 1980s.

    2) This was the Dolphins' 8th win in a row. They had finished the 1985 season on a 7 game winning streak which started when Marino and the Fins beat the Jets in the Orange Bowl on a bomb to Mark Duper.

Yes, everything fell apart in the conference championship, but this game was awesome (especially since I was 11).

I was at this game, and I lived in Chicago (and still do). I remember thinking "If we don't score in the 3rd quarter (down 21-3), we're screwed". We did and we weren't. The ways in which our was falling apart though were evident. Our defensive rot was showing and our run-game woes were beginning to wear us down. The seasons that followed were really no surprise to those who really followed the team.

Side Note: It's weird watching Clay Matthews Sr. out there. He was freakin' stud too.

That was the '85 season, Cle was 8-8 and won the Central so they had a bye to face Miami who was the top seed I believe. Miami was supposed to crush them but I remmeber turning it on and Cle led 21-0 or 21-3 before Marino led the great comeback.

It was also a great feeling during the Marino years, to know that you were never out of a game. In fact some of the better marino classic games came from dire beginnings. Just glad I was old enough to witness it all.
