Interesting little tid bit about barry sanders heading to the phins on wikipedia

There was widespread speculation that Sanders' retirement was a calculated move on his behalf to orchestrate a trade to a more legitimate contender.[citation needed] The Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins were both considered among the front runners in the negotiations. Sanders and Dolphin quarterback Dan Marino reportedly[by whom?] both expressed a private interest in finishing their careers together (Marino never had the benefit of a premier running back behind him) and try to win a Super Bowl. However, Detroit was either unable to find an attractive enough offer, or unwilling to negotiate altogether with other teams. It had been a long standing practice for the Detroit Lions to not accommodate players' requests for trades.

    i remember this speculation
I believe any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle...Victorious

Would've been Interesting to say the least. I'm not entirely sure Barry could've stopped 62-7 however.

It would have been special to see two of my favourite players ever playing on the same Dolphins team!!

Barry's retirement was not "acalculated move." He was sick and tired of playing for a ****ty Lions organization. After being away for awhile he started to miss the game and the prospect of him playing in Miami came up and he was interested. But when he left Detroit it was not to force a deal to play somewhere else...I hate revisionist history...
