The 3rd WR - an interesting stat

Not sure if this has been listed yet/before - but I was studying our stats [yes, I know - very sad], and I noticed something quite peculiar, at least to me.

As a former Offensive Coordinator, I was always keen to know not only who was productive but what, i.e. package, formation, personnel grouping etc.

This year, we've had 4 players share the 3rd WR spot - Moore, Gaffney, Matthews and Naanee and I looked at their stats.

    Moore 4 - 83 - 20.8 - 1td
    Gaffney 4 - 68 - 17.0
    Matthews 3 - 55 - 18.3
    Naanee 1 - 19 - 19.0

    total 12 - 228 - 18.8 - 1td

Now - comparing these to our starters

    Hartline 62 - 925 - 14.9 - 1td
    Bess 61 - 778 - 12.8 - 1td

Now.. TD's aside [it's shocking yes] Is it only me who finds this quite interesting in that.. literally whomever [old, young, rookie, injured, catching issues] we have lined up at the 3rd WR spot has in fact been pretty productive from an Avg per catch standpoint.??

The 3 WR set was always my favourite when I coached as it put the defense in conflict - they either have to take a LB out of the box to cover the slot, or bring a Safety down to cover the slot... either way, you create holes.

    Anyway... I thought I'd share

4 players combining for 12 reception 228 yards and 1 TD is beyond horrible and those scrubs shouldn't even be in as a 3rd WR

By accident one wr should have more then 3 TDs instead our entire group has 3!

The above post is not subject to penalty under the TOS I declare the Hayden Fox defense. " It is impossible for the staff to know my context therefore I cannot be penalized"

We dont have a #2 Wr.. thats why bess has been doing well so far in the slot position, Bush has more receptions than all our #2 Wrs.. thats tells you something

I don't think this is shocking to anyone.

    1. Questionable play calling in the Red-zone or when the game is on the line.
    2. #1 and #2 Receivers that would be #3 at best on most teams. No real deep threat, no separation, they fall down immediately after the catch or run out of bounds almost every single play.
    3. Rookie QB
    4. Rookie HC
