The whole secondary needs to be gutted next year besides Reshad Jones

Thats what I would do. I would let sean smith walk. He is way to inconsistent. We also need a ballhawking free safety too. Clemons is serviceable but we need better than serviceable. Kerry Rhodes would be an upgrade he will be a free agent. But let sean smith walk and target dominique rodgers cromartie. Then draft jordan poyer out of oregon state in the 2nd round. Go into next season with DRC, Poyer, Marshall, Kerry Rhodes, and Jones in the back end. Who knows what ireland will do though. I wouldn't be surprised he resigned carroll to a huge contract.

Offer Sean Smith a "reasonable" contract, take it or leave it. Definitely keep R. Marshall. Clemons could be upgraded, and get a CB in FA, that needs to happen. Draft a replacement for Clemons and use him this year until he loses the job. That is what I think needs to happen

WOW!!! I was wondering if anyone else but me was going to EVER say it.

sean smith needs to be the first guy OUT the door at seasons end. he cant cover. he is lazy and and makes randy moss's "plays off" look like a 40 year career with no missed games.

he is slow to react, cant turn his hips, loses track of the ball, gets burned on slants and doesnt seem to have any real "feel" for the game.

i hear all this "sean smith needs to have his pay cut or threaten to let him go". WHY? i agree with him making FAR less money, but, on another team. HE CANT PLAY, so what good is a pay cut. cut out the liability.

nolan carroll is awful. but, he is a glorified walk on and wasnt supposed to be anything eye popping. and, he makes no real football money. SMITH MAKES A TON and will want even more. his play to salary ratio is hideous!!

smith gone is the SECOND move i want to see at seasons end. FIRST is ireland getting the boot in the arse. then smith/carroll being allowed to do whatever, as long as its not in a finz uni.

then adios amigos to JAKE LONG. big money can NOT be shelled out to these two guys. like it or not, we ARE in the market for a LEFT TACKLE.

martin? bwahahahahah!!! he isnt a good rt. decent, thats all. and 40lbs of muscle added on wont change him. this was the knock on him in college, cant handle speed and/or bull rushers. and ireland spends a hi pick on him.

lt is now another MUST FIND. bothe starting corners need replaced. and some new depth needs to be found along with that. a safety as good or hopefully even BETTER than resead jones [who is really coming on] to pair with him.

PASS RUSHER to go with wake. a speed and coverage ability lb.

wr who can TRUELY stretch the field and find the endzone. one who can actually get IN the endzone!! another TE to go with fasano.

folks are sad and mad because they talked themselves into believing all we needed to do was replace henne and playoffs, here we come. we put a talent deficient team on the field led by a rookie qb who was politicaly HANDED the job. a guy with a season and a half of playing the position.

this was the staffs year to evaluate. see who could actually play. who could be coached up. who should stay..........., who should go. and i think they have a good idea now. they should.

but people got themselves into this playoff team frenzy . now its reality time and many are standing on the ledge. NO NEED FOR IT!

now, come start of next season and ireland and smith and carroll and long are here? then find a ledge. there were just plainly to many holes in this team to get anywhere near the playoffs and to many holes that couldnt be filled in one off season.

    Setting yourself up for disappointment.

This team must concentrate on OFFENSE this upcoming offseason. PERIOD. From WRs to TE to LG to RT. All are musts. Tannehill can not go through another season with the trash he has to use.

MIA will not have the money to spend on a DRC. Rhodes may be a possibility. But he too isn't the player you are making him out to be.

I agree on Smith wholeheartedly. And drafting Poyer in 2nd round would be real nice. I keep Clemons based on contract but if we go with anther safety in 2nd or 3rd round Im thinking rambo to have two bulldogs in force.

I dont agree with total blowup. Just make sure there is good competition. And we got #25 who is getting pt for obvious reasons. He will be in the mix next year with offseason on this team. Just make sure you draft a sure CB in 2nd round. Nice call.

Smith has all the intangibles to be a really good defensive back. I've always thought with his size, the dude should be playing safety. Then I think of how poorly he tackles, and I shy away from making such a remark. His size is ideal to pick off the deep ball, but I agree, he is average at best. Part of it is his attitude, and coaches' failure to groom him into a productive player. He's just not the dynamic player/freak I thought he would be, time to cut ties.

I believe you can go mostly on offense in this draft early and often but if we get say bowe in FA, then 2 WR drafted become less neccessary IMO and the reality of the need at Cb is too huge to ignore.

Smith has problems in zone coverage and when he has to play off. Smith plays good when hes able to play at the line. Problem he has problem in zone coverage is because he slows down and watches the QB. Smith isn't the best corner but he is the best corner that we have. Unless there are two clear upgrades. I'm probably not in the majority of keeping Smith, but I wouldn't mind keeping a pretty decent cover guy and adding a play-maker to our secondary somewhere if the price is right for Smith. I honestly believe how defense has been fine to the point where we dont need to create more holes and try to upgrade without a clear upgrade. I think the offense needs a major overhaul. Defense is close to being elite. We need a play-maker.

Yea thats it, let Sean Smith walk and be in a position to find a FS and atleast 2 or 3 CB's . . . while still needing a pass rusher, 2 or 3 WR's, 2 new guards, a LT, TE . . . do you really think we are hitting on all of these FA's and draft picks?

Sean Smith at worse is a #2 CB and he has flashed as a guy who has shown he can play at a #1 level, just still a bit inconsistent . . . but damn we put ourselves in this position when we traded Vontae and his cheap contract. We would be damn fools to let Sean Smith go when this is a weak CB class in FA and no guarantees we hit in the draft on a CB.

I actually think Sean Smith is the #1 priority right now . . . we can't afford to lose our best CB at this time.
