    Draft

According to playoffstatus.com (as of this week), they project our draft order as follows:

    0% 1-2
    <1% 3-6
    1% 7
    3% 8
    6% 9
    8% 10
    9% 11
    9% 12
    22% 13
    23% 14
    10% 15
    7% 16
    4% 17
    <1% 18 or higher

This takes into account everyone's projected SOS, and likely ending season records....

    You're welcome....

OK well, as of right now no one is picking in the draft so everyone disregard my post.

We will not have a shot at Werner or Te'o even if we lose out the season, IMO. We could have a shot at Jarvis Jones if we want him, though.

If Jarvis Jones is there when we pick then it's a no brainer IMO.

Perhaps. I've seen a lot of people alluding to medical history which could be problematic on him. I'm not particularly well researched on his medical history but that would be a concern.

I like Jarvis Jones. But physically he's not that impressive from a size or athletic standpoint. I think he bullied around some offensive linemen at the college level that he won't get to bully around at the pro level. I think he's a real linebacker at the pro level and at that point you have to consider how he would fit in Miami's defense and what we would have him doing, whether he can have a big marginal impact over the player(s) he'd be replacing.

Maybe this could end up being one of those guys I liked and end up regretting that I wasn't so excited as to prioritize them...but at the same time, I watch him play and I think of a lot of different options I'd rather go with. But then, a lot of those options won't be available when Miami picks. So it's an interesting question.

you're not "settling" for anything if barkevious mingo falls in your lap...i'd pass on jarvis jones even at #15...not physically gifted enough as an edge rusher
hoops scoops 2012 season ..."in 2014 ryan tannehill etches his name in stone amongst the games elite qbs"..."ryan tannehill and andrew luck will carry the afc for the next decade plus the way peyton manning and tom brady have this last decade plus"

If ya want guys with elite tools...I think Mingo, Jordan, and Ansah are probably the type of guy your looking for. I like Mingo as well...but Ansah is growing on me more and more as well.

jordans a 34 olb...he does have elite tools though as far as get off and explosion...but he needs to play standing up as much as possible...i'd like jordan more if i was a 34 team...his rush arsenal very limited right now...still he's got the explosion and movement skills that you covet in the top 20...

none of these guys upside though touches mingos...

Agree with you about Jordan, hoops. I'm thinking Pittsburgh for Jordan.

TWO AND A half years and more than 2,000 miles ago, Jarvis Jones was just another washed-up football player, shooting pickup hoops at a Southern California gym. After eight promising games as a true freshman linebacker for USC, Jones was sidelined indefinitely with a neck injury, barred from putting on his pads or helmet. "It was," he says, "depressing."
The injury occurred against Oregon on Halloween in 2009. By all accounts, it was a routine hit, but after staying on the turf for a few seconds, he was removed from the game. Within days, he found himself in the hospital, where a specialist told him he had a "mild" case of spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column. "I've seen this over and over again," Jones remembers the doctor saying. "If you play the game long enough, things like this will happen."
The doctor told Jones he would be fine and he could play again. But the Trojans' team doctors thought the injury was much more serious and refused to clear him for contact; they eventually recommended that Jones retire from football. So the then-20-year-old spent his days wandering from class to the basketball gym to the weight room. "Just like a regular student," he says. Just a 6'3", 241-pound student who considered trying out for USC's basketball team.
"But in my head," Jones says, "I never let go of the fact that the first specialist told me I'd be okay."
In fact, he's been better than okay. Now an All-American for the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, Jones is arguably the best defender in college football, a master of technique with a sixth sense for tracking down quarterbacks. A year after leading the SEC with 13.5 sacks, Jones has continued to camp out in opponents' backfields this season. Following a 41-20 win over Missouri on Sept. 8, in which Jones had two sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles, ESPN Insider Mel Kiper Jr. moved Jones to the top of his NFL draft Big Board, where he remains. More than on athleticism and strength, though, Jones will tell you he excels because of a certain learned relentlessness. "Every film session, every rep in the weight room, every play," Jones says, "I treat it like it's my last. Going through what I've gone through, I understand you never know when it's all going to be taken away."

Plus he had an ankle this year.
"It happens all the time," Taylor said. "It's not an exact science and personnel guys aren't the end-all, be-all. " Jason Taylor,2011
