Jonathan Martin looked awful in the preseason, now he is potentialy our future LT for the next 7-10 years, man shoulda declared him a bust and cut him in the preseason...

Egnew may turn out to be a huge bust, but at least wait until he is cut for not improving maybe next offseason after a year or two of experience, or he is forced to play, steps on the field and drops 8 out of 10 passes thrown his way
Hall of fame number heel get active guy. My biggest problem with the Egnew pick is we needed receivers and there was talent still there. We had Fasano and a young guy in Clay. We had two wr's and nothing else and a third receiver is a guy that plays alot of downs. Reshard Jones hate to tell u showed flashes when he played and we had other people at DT so we could sit through Solai's lazy stage.
egnew never looked that good in college and definately was not a seam buster and was always an awful blocker

ah yes, the undrafteds. there is one every year, but last year, there were several.

I think Samuda pushes fatman for RG.

I will give you this one all day Dlock. Egnew is not a football player. I even scratched my head on Vernon cus I didnt even know who he was. Jury is still out but I always give a player a couple of years to blossom. I have more faith in Vernon than Egnew by far. I too was miffed by waiting so long for a WR in the draft.

keep in mind that ireland has his "150" list. He will only draft guys who make that list from what I have read. he must of not liked the smaller guys plus he had one in Gates on the roster so I chalk it up to his offseason brainfart.

Im not convinced that Vernon will be that good but he has showed promise. We as fans like to judge players way too fast one way or another but Egnew not even being able to be active looks bad.
Ireland needs to chuck that 150 list. if Gates made the 150 and Givens did not then ugh

Many of the knocks on TY Hilton remind me of the slights toward Reggie Bush. I haven't checked if they are courtesy of the same sources but I wouldn't be surprised.

Heaven forbid if we have more players like that, with all their faults. He just advanced our cause 20 yards downfield but that's the only thing he can do. He's terrible. Not enough routes. Too many foot faults. It's like tea time in Britain.

Jonathan Martin looked good to me on Sunday. I didn't see the TV version but in person he was surprisingly effective. I'll be interested to watch him against a superior opponent this week to see how he holds up. At left tackle his feet seem more active and instinctive than on the right side. It's normal looking, and not the sad drop step that Jake Long increasingly resorts to these days in passing situations, desperate to set his left foot.

Always like the Martin pick. Too many people overrated Martin as a prospect treating him as a top 10 prospect which he wasnt but he was good value in second round and has looked good. The jury is still open because we often see a rookie lineman play better his rookie year than he does the rest of his career.

yea besides the obvious RT, Jonathan Martin would have to be the winner here

It has to be Martin for me especially with Long's days seemingly being numbered, Martin's steady improvement over the course of the season is encouraging.

Rishard Matthews is the best bang for buck.

We got him in the 7th round...Thats absurd.

He should have been 2nd-3rd round pick. But to get him in the 7th. Thats absurd.

maybe a third rounder but in reality I thought he had about 5th round ability.
I would give Ireland credit for drafting him so late but he liked BJ Cunninham more obviouslly
