when did we become $36 mil over the cap?
Wow. You don't know the status of the cap on your team? They need to cut Scott, Pace, and Smith to get to the cap limit.

EDIT: My apologies. The Jets are 26 mil over.

That is all a given, those guys weren't coming back anyway in their current deals. I never worry about the cap b/c I never had to w/ Tannenbaum, he was always creative to get guys we needed under the cap.

It is not creativity. He simply pushed back guarantees and when you do that, it catches up in 1 year. That's what the Jets are facing.

I've heard that for a deace and we've never had issues. Maybe we will now w/o our cap guru but it's something we never had to worry about.

Mikey couldnt bail you out of this mess which is a large reason why he no longer works for the Jets. As for a decade, thats a stretch and you know it. He has only been the GM for 7 years and didn't go from building through the draft to win now until Rex came aboard. Over the last three years his restructuring Sanchez, Pace along with Holmes and Revis has created the mess.

The Jets will pay the Piper in 2013 then be able to restart in 2014.

Color me surprised you respond with this instead of addressing the cap issue.

I was only touching on his being GM which was 7 years. I was wrong about his total time with the Jets.

    Now, the issue at hand?

he's been in charge of our cap since 1997, BP had final say and forced his hand but he was able to get out from under BPs bad moves to keep us out of cap hell. I never needed to worry about the cap, it will be a little more challenging this year w/ a new guy who may not be as good w/ the cap as Tannenbaum but I don't know all the info we need to know to provide an opinion whether we are screwed or not. I am more worried now w/o him though.
