The only lineman I would want in the first is Warmack, and that's after a trade down in the 20's. We need a game-changing player and I think most of these WR's are second round talent. We need to sign Jennings and then go BPA if we can't trade down. That would most likely be a CB or DE, which are both needs. There will be plenty of talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The only problem is that we have probably the worst talent evaluator in the NFL!!!
I go TE or WR. Eifert may not have lit up the world against Bama. But I seen enough over the course of the season, to take him. Last year I was told if Tannehill is your man, taking him at 8 isn't a reach. Well I would think those same people would be consistent when talking about this draft. Give the young developing QB what every young QB needs, a TE.
And honestly, I know people are going to hate to hear it, but Ireland wouldn't be stupid to consider taking an offensive lineman at #12. It is maddening that even after spending all the money and picks on the OL that it is still in shambles......but it is. The line play was just dreadful for most of last season. Even if they re-sign Long they still need more there.
After re-watching some games and looking at some of the highlight videos, the horrific performance by the OL last season really stood out to me more than on first viewing. I have really warmed up to the idea of taking Chance Warmack at 12. Or even Eric Fischer. That's if they let Long walk. If they re-sign him, they should not be using premium picks to try and upgrade the other spots.
Ireland did say the offseason would be about trying to land playmakers but that doesn't have to mean the entire draft, or even the first round pick. If they add Wallace or Jennings in FA and keep Hartline, they really don't need to spend a first rounder on someone like Keenan Allen, imo. Would it be nice? Sure, but there are other areas they really need to improve as well.
I would be happy with Warmack or a pass rusher in round 1 and then in round 2 some combo of WR, CB, DE/LB. If Tavon Austin was still there for their first pick in R2 that would be great.
Walter Football has us taking a LT from Central Michigan named Eric Fisher with the 12th pick. I would just move Martin to LT and draft a tackle later to play RT, or leave Martin at RT and get a left tackle in the third round. We need receivers, tight ends, etc. I can't see us re-signing Jake Long for what he is making and think we just have to let him go. We could probably draft Kyle Long, LT Oregon (son of Howie) in the third round.
1. OG: Zack Martin, Notre Dame
2. ILB: Chris Borland, Wisconsin
3. TE: C.J. Fiedorowicz, Iowa
4. DT: Daniel McCullers, Tenn
5. FS: Kenny Ladler, Vanderbilt
6. QB: Connor Shaw, South Carolina
7. RB: Isaiah Crowell, RB, Alabama State
To be honest I've been looking on Walterfootball and CBS mock drafts
