I believe the announcement will involve the renaming of the stadium as SUN LIFE is pulling out of the U.S. market and sold the us part of the company.
"Canada’s third-largest insurer agreed to sell its U.S. annuities unit to a firm owned by Guggenheim Partners LLC for $1.35 billion in December, "

    Just sayin'

The problem with Sun Life stadium is the location as well as the multi purpose design of the facility. It is located in the ghetto.

A new, state of the art football only stadium that seats 75K should be built along Biscayne bay near the AAA center.

They can create the land by filling in a section of the bay off of 195. Ross can afford it and it would be situated between the city and Miami Beach.

The details can be worked out later...lol

lol Atlanta, Buffalo, Minnesota, San Diego, and San Francisco are all getting new stadiums. Miami will be just about the lone team with crusty stadium built before the 90s.

I don't think the next stadium should have more than 60k seats. I agree that the stadium should be located in Biscayne Bay.

yeah 75k is too big. That's Jacksonville's problem. A new Miami stadium should only hold about 63-66k

I think the location complaints are stupid. The dolphins use the facility ten times a year mostly weekends. Navigating the workday isn't a problem so putting it on prime real estate is a waste of money. Football is more tailgate centric than any other sport so you want empty land for parking. The neighborhood has no impact on fan experience.

As for the name I'll take Guggenheim stadium. Maybe they can auction it to Loria

I like the idea of FieldTurf. It'll keep the field from looking like crap during the summer Miami storms and it'll trap the heat on the field making it blazing hot during the SEP/OCT home games. Not digging a retractable roof unless there's some agreement that it's used (the roof being closed) for non Dolphin events only.

They get a bid because they sank a billion and a half into their stadium and the NFL likes to reward cities/owners that go to that expense. It's not like NY/NJ is suddenly going to become part of a SB rotation, unless the game is such a phenomenal success that very few care about the weather.
