In all honestly, and I've said this before, that starting spot for negotiation at 7 million a year seems very reasonable and still does. He isn't an elite CB, and he's not asking for elite CB money. He's asking for solid starting CB money which he is. I've looked at almost every CB on the market and most of them have had injury issues or they are getting up there in years.

Everybody wants another CB until they perform worse than what you already have. Smith is solid, hell he's the only thing that resembles solid at CB on this team. We'd be silly to not resign him within reason, and 7 million a year is within reason.
