Fins hire Marwan Maalouf as assistant ST coach/promote Johnson, Bullen and Taylor

    http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/ar...6-70beaead3cf7

The Miami Dolphins have named Marwan Maalouf as their assistant special teams coach and announced a series of promotions, including defensive assistant coach Charlie Bullen to assistant defensive line coach, offensive assistant Ben Johnson to assistant quarterbacks coach and assistant quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor to quarterbacks coach.
Maalouf was the Colts Special Teams Coordinator last season. Their unit was decent but still the team and Maalouf mutually parted ways. Seems like a decent replacement for Fipp.

I didn't realise Zac was the assistant coach, who was the QB coach? Sherman?

They didn't have a quarterbacks coach in title last year. Sherman(offensive coordinator) and Taylor(assistant QB coach) did that role, so it is not surprising they gave Taylor the full title this year.

Here is a little more info:
DAVIE – The Dolphins made a number of coaching moves Wednesday, among them was promoting Zac Taylor to quarterbacks coach from assistant quarterbacks coach, and naming Marwan Maalouf assistant special teams coach. In other moves the team promoted Charlie Bullen to defensive line coach from defensive line assistant and promoted Ben Johnson to assistant quarterbacks coach from offensive assistant.
Taylor, entering his second season with the Dolphins, helped quarterback Ryan Tannehill pass for a franchise rookie record 3,294 yards last season and become the first rookie quarterback to start all 16 games. Tannehill also established franchise rookie records for pass attempts (484) and completions (282). He ended the season with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Maalouf, who was Indianapolis’ special teams coordinator last season, joins a Dolphins special teams unit that was ranked fourth overall in the NFL by Rick Gosselin, the NFL writer for the Dallas Morning News who annually crunches the numbers.
Before working for the Colts, Maalouf spent four seasons as assistant special teams coach for Baltimore (2008-11), worked a season for Scouts, Inc., and served as Cleveland’s special teams quality control coach from 2004-06.

"It happens all the time," Taylor said. "It's not an exact science and personnel guys aren't the end-all, be-all. " Jason Taylor,2011

Here is a link to the Colts forum when Maalouf and the team split earlier this month. For the most part they seemed shocked by him leaving.

Especially with Darren Rizzi in place, this seems on the surface like a pretty good, high potential gain, little risk, type hire.

"Yep. Blow it up. This might the worst team I've ever seen constructed in my life.
And then you throw in the terrible preparation and in-game coaching. There is no defense.
