Phinatics Free Agency Give or Take Game

Every Phinatic has an opinion on free agency, with which of our own we should keep, and which potential FA's from other teams we should go after. Opinions differ greatly. This is a thread to look at the "Give & Take" options on what you would choose to do in spending the team's cap money.

Here's what I understand our own FA's are looking for.

    Long- $10M+

    Hartline- $6M

    Bush- $5-6M

    Fasano- $3-4M

    Smith- $7M

    Starks- $5-6M

    Clemons- $3M

    Other team's FA's

Wallace, Jennings, and Bowe- All in the $10-11M range

    Volmer- $5-6M

    Levitre- $5M

    Corrections, opinions, and additions welcome.

    Now the fun part.

Would you give Long's money to take one of the WR's?

Would you give Long's money to take Volmer and Levitre?

Wold you give the combined money of Hartline and Bush to take one of the WR's?

Would you give the combined money of Long, Hartline, and Bush to take two of the WR's?

You get the idea. Answers and more questions?

I would take the Volmer and Levitre combo myself.

For sure Long's money for Levitre and Vollmer its a HUGE upgrade. I doubt we will get Vollmer though.

Take-Heartline, Starks, Clemens, Levitre, Jennings and Volmer. Pass on the rest.

It is interesting when you take a look at FA from this perspective. We have a ton of cap space but, there will still have to be trade offs on what we do. The Hartline/Bush trade off to take a Jennings, Bowe, or Wallace is an interesting one, which finds me on the fence.

Anyone care to push one way or the other?

I would take Levitre and Hartline for (4.5 million max) for Long's salary. Then I would attempt to get Jennings or proven TE if there is one. Then in the draft, CB, tackle, DE, reciever, TE. I would also let go Bush and bring in Steven Jackson for 2 years. I could enjoy watching the Jackon and Miller combo.

I don't know if either one will be available but, we do get some idea of what we might get in a money trade off. I sincerely believe that there will be many other VG FA's coming available with the salary cap staying the same, and many teams being over it.

The question is if we can afford that and look for two CB's in the draft.

I like your first part better with Volmer. No interest in Jackson.

Why not Stephen Jackson? He pounds the rock, rarely goes down without 2 or 3 tacklers, seldom fumbles, and is a great team player. He would be the perfect back to help spring Miller to the outside. I would like that for 1-2 years when we could draft another young running back.
