    Terrific article on Ed Reed

In the shadow of Ray Lewis, but perhaps more respected among Ravens players. Reed lives in a relatively modest house not far from team headquarters and spend hours every day in his basement breaking down film with a pencil and note pad, inviting teammates over to share thoughts on the opponent. Reed drives everyday cars and has saved most of his salary. He could not be more helpful in advising teammates on how to deal with various injuries and issues, but virtually hides once the media shows up at Ravens headquarters every afternoon. One friend claims he grows the ugly beard so he won't be recognized, that it's like a mask for him:

I had my doubts about signing Reed next season, that he had enough left to be of value. This changed my mind. Although I'm now told we have two of the five or six best safeties in the league.

Good read. Thanks. I was pulling for the Ravens in the SB anyway. Even more so now. Love Ed Reed...one of my favorite non-fins. Reminded me of this clip for some reason:
