I really appreciate what Steven Jackson brings to the table, but he's considering retirement and I'm not sure we want to take a bite of a guy with that kind of mileage who has to be convinced out of retiring.

Who I really want, is Mike Goodson from the Oakland Raiders. One of the NFL's best kept secrets. Won't be expensive, but there may also be more of a market for him than you'd think. I won't be the only one that has noticed him develop.

Some will suggest there's bad blood between he and Mike Sherman. That really isn't the case. The relationship didn't go as well as the two had hoped in 2008 but they've never been on bad terms and ultimately when Goodson left for the NFL early rather than stay another year with Sherman at Texas A&M, it was because of family financial problems. His dad had just got thrown in jail and he needed to earn money for his family.

I guess what ever social security would pay should be fair.

There is a lot of wear and tear on Jackson. Fisher loved him (his type of RB - think Eddie George) so I think he'll be back with the Rams even though they voided the final year of his deal near the beginning of the season.

Personally, I'd take Jackson over Reggie Bush and be happy about a combo of Jackson and Lamar Miller. My question, assuming Jackson gets to the open market, will he receive the same type of money as Bush? If so it's essentially trading Bush for Jackson money wise. I like that. Jackson is a power back something we need to balance out the running attack. Thomas hasn't shown much in his two years so it's hard to project him stepping up.

I know there are bigger fish to fry than running back, but just wanted to put it out there for discussion.

not to nit-pick but it's only about 33 days till free agency, not including the three day negotiating period that begins March 9th.

I like him, but like a lot of other people, I fear that he will hit the wall soon, then you're stuck with him.

I agree!!! We should instead go for a young developing RB like Goodson, who happens to be a good receiving back and mix him with Miller, Gray and Thomas.
