News2 Stadium Renovation NOT on delegations list of priorities

    http://miamiherald.typepad.com/naked...riorities.html

A little disheartening after the first vote went so well. I'm sure the renovation will eventually happen, but if we were hoping to land a Super Bowl in the next few years, there has to be a little more movement by the owners meeting in May. This isn't going to push us in the right direction.

We have real important issues in this state...

    Corporate welfare isn't worthwhile.

Enough of that garbage...sick of my fees taxes and rates going up to subsidize corporate welfare.

And..not that I disagree with Death Star..but the above response is exactly why it wasnt listed. They wont publicly make it a"priority" in this current state of affairs. But..it will get taken care of, that you can be sure of. This is only politics....part of putting on a good public face.

Dolphins should have moved to a new stadium. Marlins should have stayed.

Why is everyone concerned if the Superbowl comes here or not? Does it really matter? There are more important things in life than whether the city of Miami hosts a super bowl.... For instance, the upcoming draft.

Exactly. I lived in Miami in 1989 and 1995 when the Super Bowl was held there. It meant nothing special to me, at least not anymore than any of the other Super Bowls of that era. I care about whether or not the Dolphins ever get to another Super Bowl, not were the game is played.

Drive anywhere on 595 and then tell me that the super bowl or a stadium renovation should be a top priority. That's one of the crappiest highways in the country. Much bigger issues in south Florida.

The fact that the Dolphins will sign a 20 year lease with Miami if the stadium renovations happen is the biggest reason why I want them to happen. It will be nice to see the Super Bowl in Miami again, especially the coveted Super Bowl L, but assurance the team stays in Miami long term is what has me anxious about this getting approved. I don't live in Miami so I personally won't see the hundreds of millions the Super Bowl will bring to the local economy. But I do make the long trip down to Miami at least once a year so an improved facility would be nice to attend.

Again if they can sign a long term lease and finally take the Los Angeles conversation completely off the table then I want this renovation to get approved.

Only actual residents understand this. These out of state fans are always talking out of their ass, saying they would be season ticket holders, everything the Dolphins need should be top priority, no excuse not to be a season ticket holder if you're a resident in Miami.

Yeah, I bet if they actually moved in here they would have trouble even looking for a job.
