The Dolphins plan to run the read-option in 2013.

I've no problem as long as Tannehill slides and he bulks up. I know everyone thinks that it's a risk but almost every significant injury sustained to a QB has come in the pocket , not on the run.

good way to lose the only qb you've had here since marino with real franchise potential...unbelievable...if we're dumb enough to get caught in the read option pistol trap consistently i'm gonna lose it...

please don't ruin the only good thing we've had going at the position...i can't handle any more garbage qbs
hoops scoops 2012 season ..."in 2014 ryan tannehill etches his name in stone amongst the games elite qbs"..."ryan tannehill and andrew luck will carry the afc for the next decade plus the way peyton manning and tom brady have this last decade plus"

He's your franchise, keep him upright. Once the league catches up to the spread option, and they will to some extent... the risk will far outweigh the reward.
Oddly, the most hit QB for the 2012 season? Andrew Luck.

Even if true, why would the team release this information in February?

Stay away from that rushing QB style. If he HAS to do it in a pinch to avoid a sack and get back to the line of scrimmage, that's one thing. If you want him to take off if he has no options, you run the risk of injuries and he is too important for that.

I think this is a horrible idea. I think the Read/Option is the new 'sexy' in the NFL, it will go the same route as the wildcat. It works and looks good at first but as lesser candidated begin trying it will get watered down and eventually given up. There are few QB skilled enough with those particular set of intangibles needed to operate in that kind of offence. Tannerhill has done a great job crafting himself as a WR turned QB. Now your going to ask the guy to forget all that he has been workng on the last several years and become pull in down and take off threat?

Terrible idea, if true (and I don't believe it is). The read option will get figured out very soon by NFL defenses (Wildcat, anyone?). In fact, it's a toss up over which happens first: pro defenses solving it or the QBs that are currently running it getting run out of the league in stretchers.
