    Question Compensatory Prediction. Obligatory Response?

I know it's darn near impossible to predict what compensation will get in the form of compensatory picks this year. We lost Langford and Henne, signed Marshall. Langford and Henne made 22 starts between them and Marshall made four starts. So the way I'm calculating it, Henne (6 Starts) cancels out Marshall (4 Starts) and nets 2 starts. That's 18 Net starts or 1.125 Players we should get credit for. I don't know how much weight sacks, touchdowns or interceptions have in the equation but maybe we can look to 2012 to find a team with a comparable loss.

Is there and easy way of checking what compensation a team received last year for a 1.125 net player loss? is there any chance it's a fourth rounder?

Trying to figure out how the NFL awards comp picks is harder than explaining the Infield Fly Rule to your girlfriend.

Compensatory picks are based on salary, playing time and postseason awards.

Before the start of last season, I tried to project the pick for the Dolphins.

Based on what I knew of the compensatory process I was projecting either a 6th or 7th round pick for the Dolphins. The way the season went for the players I had as "qualifiers", it is possible now that the pick could be higher than a 6th or 7th rounder.

Also, this guy has a little more insight on the formula and according to him some of the qaulifiers I had wouldn't truly be qualifiers and he projects a 4th round pick for the Dolphins.

The only thing we can really conclude is that Miami will get one pick, what round is still up for debate.

Interesting info, thanks for posting. I did not know this many variables were involved.
