We're in a bad spot if we're taking Eifert at 12.
Even if he is not re-signed, a #1 WR is still a far greater need for the Miami Dolphins rather than a TE assuming we don't address this in free agency. Even if we do, I'd rather have Patterson at #12 over Eifert. Eifert is a nice player...but he's not worth the #12 overall pick and nothing he does at the combine will make him worth the #12 pick overall. The draft is all about getting value. There isn't any value in Eifert at #12.
FA: Dmitiri Patterson (Vet min.w/ incentives)
1. Zach Martin OT
2. Bishop Sankey RB
3. Brandon Thomas G/T
4. Max Bullough ILB
5. Crockett Gilmore TE
6. Brandon Linder G/T
I would rather sign a veteran like Finley who can help us in game #1. Combined with Fasano, we will have one of the best TE duo's in the league. Throw in Clay, and maybe Egnew can surprise. We are more than solid.
With the first pick we need to address DE. Our defense will have the ability to get the Brady scoring machine off the field with intense pressure from the ends and Starks and Co cleaning up the middle. Picking a De is not sexy, but it is the right pick this year.
In the 2nd -3rd round we should go after 2 WR's that have speed/leaping ability/hands(think randy moss type), and another guy that has size/good speed/great hands(think B marshall type), and 1 corner that can cover man to man if those guys are there.
In the late 3rd, we should address the OG position(or RT position if Long departs)
If we can hit on 3-4 players with these 5 picks, Ireland will be a genius and the rest of the draft will be BPA gravy and depth and potential upgrades at RB, OLB, OL, and Safety.
