    OPINION Mathieu

I won't argue from a TALENT perspective that he is the second best CB in the draft. Was amazed by his ball skills as today he high pointed the football every drill, every rep. He is by far the smoothest corner in the draft, can play in the slot and adds value to the return game. You cannot convince me he isn't one of the best 15 football players in the draft. If Janoris Jenkins went round 2 so can he.. My question is, we took a chance on the bum Chad Johnson, do you think we would consider him at #42 or #54?

Janoris Jenkins was one of the best pure cover corners I've seen in college football over the past 10 years. This kid single handedly shut down Julio Jones, A.J. Green, and Alshon Jeffrey without a single ounce of help. Along with being a dynamic return specialist.

Herbal Badger was the guy that Alabama picked on constantly during the last football game that he played. Kevin Norwood absolutely destroyed him one-on-one.

Jenkins was a little bigger and a tenth faster. He had a very, very unique ability to match up with big, physical, fast receivers that have been destroying the NFL since the moment they entered it. Sugar Possum was completely outmatched trying to cover a very pedestrian bigger receiver in Kevin Norwood.

Now, Mathieu was absolutely one of the best special teams players in the country. But he did most of his damage blitzing from the slot. If you put him in position to make plays, he can make some. But he can't hang in there downfield in coverage, especially against bigger receivers.

Janoris Jenkins is an entirely different level of player than Mathieu. There's no way I could be convinced by The Pope himself that this kid is one of the 15 best players in the draft, so I share in the stubborness.

Janoris Jenkins also had better size, better feet and his off the field didn't cause him to miss an entire season. You could also argue Janoris is a better special teams returner (though I know HB was special in his own right)

Despite what Sanders thinks, I don't think he's much more than a nickel in the NFL . . . but the potential to be a special nickel CB is there. He's always had the ball skills and that is what made him a special player. The football is attracted to him and we certainly can use some of that in the secondary.

The off the field is wayyy to much to risk a day 2 pick on IMO, but if he's still around in the 4th, I'd start looking, I could possibly be talked into the 3rd round but it would depend on whose available, what needs remain and how he has progressed from today to draft day. There are too many good football players on and off the field to risk a pick earlier than that for HB.

He's not even close to Jenkins from a talent standpoint. I do like him as a Nickel guy though

He's definitely not the 2nd best corner in the draft... Dude hasn't played in a whole year.

We should definitely take a look at him for depth if he is there in the 4th and later.

as a Florida fan I am well aware of Janoris and re-reading my post I wish I would have reworded it. I was on 2 hours of sleep. Janoris has great ball skills and I thoroughly remember him blanketing Julio and AJ the whole game in 2010. I thought he was a better corner then Pat Pete. Both are great young players. I meant saying Janoris could go 2nd round Mathieu could because of the similar off the field problems. But one thing Mathieu is is a playmaker, something we have been lacking in secondary since Madison and Surtain. He always seems to be around the football. HUGE risk, but a corner who can tackle, play nickel, and be a major contributor in ST play. I agree with Deion that he can be a starter as an outside corner but never see him as a #1 CB. More along the lines of a good #2

I wonder if there comes to a certain point in the draft. that he is too good to pass up (like with Lamar Miller last year)
