The Dolphins' contract with free agent Brian Hartline is expected to pay him "just under" $7 million a year.

It's a pricey sum for an average, No. 2-caliber receiver, but Miami is loaded with salary cap space and Hartline otherwise would've hit the market as a top-five or six wideout. An announcement of the deal appears to be imminent.

I am all for signing Hartline, but anywhere north of $6m per is just flat out ridiculous...

the raw figure may be near 7 million but I bet he wont see most of that unless he hits 1000 yards and catches 5 tds. Its always the guaranteed figure that matters

Garcon qwas the #3 WR at the time with Indy...still had amazing stats.

He was injured last year....and Hartline's 1000 yard season last year is nothing to overpay for.

Almost 7 million? Dead lord. Well all the people who were saying 6 million is fine but 7 is overpaying will now switch their tune to saying that near 7 million is ok but 8 is too much. Just like if we signed him to 8, than 8 would be fine but 9 would be too much. And so on and so on

Yeah, ALL those years. Considering his rookie year he had to compete with Harrison and Wayne for balls and his last year in Indy he had just under a 1,000 yards with Curtis Painter and company throwing him balls, that leaves him with a whopping two years playing with Manning. He only played in 10 games last year so his numbers suffered but he still scored 4 times.

Totally agree. I'd be ok not having to watch him catch passes and fall down over his own feet. Useful player and a gamer but very limited in what he brings.
