Jamie Dukes on Mike Wallace
Just watched some NFL Network and they had a clip of Mike Wallace being asked if he felt any pressure now being a #1 WR and getting his big pay day.
Wallace simply replied "No" and said that he puts enough pressure on himself everyday to be good for himself, his family, his teammates, his team, the organization.
Then they cut to Jamie Dukes and his interpretation of it is that Mike just wants to get paid and "hang out" down in South beach. Maybe get 1000 yards but he doesn't want to win.
Also says the two moves at LB were lateral moves and we are setting ourselves up for "cap (hell)" down the road. Says Dolphins are not a superbowl team, not even a playoff team. Laughed off the notion of the Dolphins making the playoffs.
To my knowledge, the contracts are cap-friendly this year, they are huge cap hits in 2014 but come back down to reasonable cap hits in 2015. I suspect that this was done knowing that Ryan Tannehill or Ireland will want to start negotiations on a new contract in 2015. So I don't see these contracts the same way that Jamie Dukes does.
There was no mentioning of the Dustin Keller pick-up either.
So, is Jamie Dukes right about Wallace and the FA moves so far?
"Fundamentals, technique, execution -- primary. Scheme -- secondary."
"We will incorporate an aggressive, up-tempo, attacking style in all three phases of the game."
"Our team will play with discipline, poise, and maximum effort."
"I want us to be the best tackling team in the NFL, the best team in pursuit, I want to take the ball away from other teams, I want to rattle the opposing quarterback every opportunity we get."
