OPINION Leon Hall tore achillies in 2011, started 14 games in 2012, grimes will be fine

Leon Hall tore his achillies in week 11 of the 2011 season and came back this past year and started 14 games and had 2 ints. Grimes tore his in week 1 of 2012 and will have much more time to heal than Hall had. Grimes will be fine and a great addition to this secondary. Now draft desmond trufant.

A more interesting statistic would be to look at starting NFL players who tear their achilles, and the median number of games they start in the following season.

That was posted in the merged Grimes thread.

Alas, this is what's going to happen every time a player comes off a severe injury ..... the examples of speedy recoveries will be used as the template.

We need to take our time in getting him in the swing of things. No need to rush him onto the practice field or Preseason game field. Let grimes slowly wokr his way back. Hes a vet and understands whats going to be asked of him and understands what being in "game" shape means.

A torn achilles tendon is one of the most difficult injuries to return from in football, where explosion and speed is so critical. Suggs didn't even resemble his old self last year.

Do you want to know why? It is because medical and rehab procedures keep advancing every year. Just look at how fast guys recover from torn acl's these days, when only about fifteen years ago an injury like that would have ended a players career. Now they come back within a year and sometimes are even better than before the injury like Adrian Peterson. The same thing is happening with Achilles tendon injuries. Leon Hall and Terrell Suggs are just the latest examples.

God bless these guys and their "speedy recovery". Medical advancements are there but the human body isn't any different. Heck, I had pec tendon rupture surgery in Jan and even tho the docs say I'm recovering ahead of schedule I'm not even cleared to play flag football until July. Achilles is no joke - we should all pray he isn't overdoing it now and he will be legion ready in training camp.
