    Lawrence Okoye

So I read this today and now I'm super excited.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...aces-long-odds

Okoye attended the regional combine in Atlanta last week and plans to work out at the Dallas super regional on April 7. He said five NFL teams have shown interest in him.
We HAVE to take a flyer on this guy! He's a beast. He has it all: highly intelligent, high-character, olympic athlete, and strong as an ox. If he's there in the 7th round I'd run over people on the way to the podium to call out his name. He's even more of a freak than Margus! He'll have to learn from scratch but he has some rugby background, is pretty tough, and has legendary potential.

Just wish they'd give kids who actually play the sport over here a chance...

meh rugby players etc have tried the switch before and it takes years for them. A winger to DE? That will take a while. Might be a good practice squad project though, good luck to him.

Who knows what he'd play. As I said though... this guy is definitely flyer-taking material.

Philbin wants football players, not projects who need to be taught the absolute basics that players learn when they are in junior high. I'd rather focus on those 'freakish' type players who for whatever reason didn't produce in college, at least you won't need to tell them how to buckle up a chin strap.

Definitely intriguing. Especially given he's a young prospect. It'll be interesting to see how he does at the Dallas combine

    Working out is fine.

Being a great specimine is fine.

Let's see how he reacts to a pulling guard smacking him in the earhole.

Don't get me wrong; I love the idea of it, but, in shape and "In football shape" are different things.

I'd rather take a flyer on signing a guy like Brian Banks. I think he's with Atl right now but that guy at least was an elite prospect before going to jail.

right now he's just an athlete, even if the article says DE. for what it's worth, i'd try him at OT. he's 6-6, 305 and probably has very good footwork and balance from being a winger
