I agree as well. Especially for a contest. But to Skape's point about what looks professional, it really depends on what a client wants.

Again, in this case, it's free reign. So it works out wonderfully. But if a client wanted a helmet on a dolphin, then that is what you draw. Even if you don't agree with it.

When you draw or design something. You do it because you like it or think it looks good. Or you do it because you think the client will like it or thinks it looks good. In my case i did both. With that being said. I would like some feedback and would consider it constructive critisism.[/IMG]

You know, I think the one thing that throws me off with this is the dorsal fin. I would try it on the other side.

GUNNZ... I'd lose the drop shadow and Grey background... Drop shadows are just a cheap photoshop effect that are to be used minimally in the design world and I think it takes away from your design overall. Not to mention, drop shadows in a logo are a big no no. You want to try and stick to vector shapes as far as logos go. If you don't believe me, find a large company such as nike or adidas that uses any drop shadows at all in their design on their websites. I like the drawing as a whole, but remember, constructive criticism.

As far as the grey goes... you really lose your pop from the orange and teal with that grey background. They'd come off the page more if it were white like you originally had

Thanks guys for your input. I would like to clarify a few things. Shifty,The dorsal fin can only be on that side because his back is facing that way. He's In a stiff arm pose. Now I know what u mean NY about filters in photoshop. But my drop shadows were created, not filtered. Not to mention other designs posted, like shiftys have drop shadows as well. Lastly. I only put the design on a grey background because its a neutral color. I wanted to show all of the colors used. If I had put it on a white background. You couldn't tell where the whites are. Fun heaven can choose the background to put it on. Thanks again

Well technically you shouldn't be able to see the dorsal fin at all.

As for the white around the sun. I would suggest making the orange thicker that way you can put it on a white background without having to worry about it looking so thin.

And for the record, my shadows are not filters either.

I'm a fan of the more simplified look, though I admit some of the entries in this thread are great.

Could anyone clean this up using their extreme photoshop skills? I made this in MS paint as that is all I have access to...
