ellerby, wheeler. and only certain positions require speed, so lets not get ahead of ourselves here. And speed is overrated if you cant catch, cover, know playbook, communicate, have instincts....you know, be a football player first, not just a track star. Thats why Heyward Bey is out in Oakland.

I think its highly possible if he was rated top 5 on their board. Thats how Ireland tends to draft. Always taking the guy rated highest. Thats why we are looking into Mante Teo in case he falls to 42.

Ireland doesn't pick players that fit HIS bill... He picks the players that fit the personality traits he likes and all the physical attributes depend on the Coach.. With Parcells and Sparano, he took the big, strong, cornfed players. With Philbin he takes the quick, agile, speedy players. He goes off of what the coaches offenses and defenses needs.

I think most here don't understand that??

    Ireland loves speed
    since when?

coming into this year we were the SLOWEST team in the nfl. i am sure boss ross said enough is enough, i want fast talent on this team to go with the modern, current era of the nfl and THAT forced ireland to OVER PAY for wallace. i am glad we have him, but, he IS over paid and we were forced into it by ireland not getting talented, FAST players!!

yep. ireland loves him some speed!

I like Albert, but his injuries concern me, especially with the rumours he is looking for 9m a year.

IMO we build through the draft and manage our salary cap. I see Martin as the future LT and would rather bring in a short term guy like Winston and draft one of the 3 Tackles available in 2nd, Menelik Watson, Kyle Long or Armstead.

A lot of people talking about Soliai and Starks being FA next year, but so are Cog & Jerry. Both gaurds dont fit the long term ZBS and IMO, much like Pouncey years ago, we draft Warmack or Cooper at #12.
Identify the 4 positions of strength in the draft, then double up on each........ if possible

Tailor Free Agency accordingly, so that your need is these 4 strengths

    2014 draft - RB - WR - OT - OG

    1-Carlos Hyde RB Ohio St.
    2-Marcus Martin OG/C USC
    3-Donte Moncrief WR Mississippi
    4-David Yankey OG Stanford
    5-Seantrel Henderson OT Miami
    6-Laurent Duvernay-Tardif OT McGill
7-Jeff Janis WR Saginaw Valley St.

    dont like it.

solia and starks are on the team NOW. we have a draft and f-agency next year so lets wait and see if we lose them next off season and THEN address it. and i think at least one will stay with the team.

we need CORNERS in the worst way right now. then a pass rusher to pair with cam, and THEN o-line. and legit play makers who put points on the board are ALWAYS a priority if available. but CORNER is the most glaring [we have none] and i want that to be addressed EARLY and often rather than draft for a POSSIBLE scenerio next year that may or may not happen.

Dunn makes explosive plays and thats wha philbin is looking for. I bet the horizontal chart on offense for all of the rounds will be players who have made explosive plays.

New charateristics for player are: Character, dedication and makes explosive plays.

i really like sylvester williams also as a gap shooting 43 dt...he's got some interior pass rush talents and quickness and burst to him...but it's bad value at #12...more in the #18-25 range
hoops scoops 2012 season ..."in 2014 ryan tannehill etches his name in stone amongst the games elite qbs"..."ryan tannehill and andrew luck will carry the afc for the next decade plus the way peyton manning and tom brady have this last decade plus"

My gut tells me Cooper is the pick at #12.
