Albert trade won't happen unless he lowers his price

In his office Friday afternoon, Philbin pointed to the practice fields outside and said: "Out there is where we're going to find out about Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore and David Garrard. I don't remember a master plan that said, 'Here's when Ryan's going to play.' If there is one, I was never told about it. We'll let them come to work, and the best man will win."'

We are set up so well going into this draft. I wished I trusted the gm to do the right thing, but he has done nothing but fail with the o line

The reason we are set up so well is that we have two second round picks and the second round tackles are really good scheme fits.

It's not going to happen for a 2nd rounder AND 8/9 million. Good thing too, no need to give up all that for Albert a good, but not great/elite tackle especially with his back issues.
I just try to be myself, whatever that is. I don't think about how I'll be remembered. I just want to be consistent over a long period of time. That's what the great players do.

It's like trading Jake Long and Vontae Davis for Branden Albert coming off a bad back. Yea...no. This would be a disaster, imo.

Guys, gotta look at, and understand NFL contracts. Jake got a 4 year deal, with $16M guaranteed. His salary this year is $3M, and $8M next year, both guaranteed. His signing bonus was $5M, pro-rated at $1.25M per year.

So, his first year cap cost is $4,25M, and second year is $9.25M. That's an average cost of $6.75 a year, and he can be cut after those two years, costing the team absolutely nothing but $2.5M. I got no problem giving Albert the same.

    Ummm...no.
The team’s “capologist” is also known as a skilled negotiator. A league source with knowledge of the front office said Aponte and Ireland act as “good cop, bad cop,” with Aponte often serving as the bad cop. Ireland is more prone to small talk and relationship-building during contract negotiations, while Aponte, an accountant and attorney, is all business.

“Dawn will say ‘no’ when Jeff won’t,” the source said. “She doesn’t really have extemporaneous conversations. And she’s very ‘by the book’ with whatever stance the team has. But she’s done a fantastic job with making sure they’re one of the cap-healthiest teams in the NFL.”
