Re: Albert trade won't happen unless he lowers his price

You could have added this to your other Albert thread but I guess another one doesn't matter.

Not when it comes to contract negotiations. Dawn has to fit the contracts into the team's salary structure and if she can't, she will say no and it won't matter how much Ireland huffs and puffs.
Jeff Ireland, the Dolphinsí general manager since 2008, is the face of the front office and the man who gets most of the credit (and blame) for the teamís fortunes.

But Miamiís front office really has two bosses: Ireland and Dawn Aponte, the teamís salary-cap expert and a trailblazer for women in NFL football operations.

Aponte, whose title is executive vice president of football administration, works with Ireland and coach Joe Philbin on daily football decisions. But perhaps more importantly, she is credited with expert management of the teamís salary cap, which gave the Dolphins flexibility this offseason to make a number of splashy signings.

Come on. You can't take those threats at face value. He (Ireland) was never going to do that

Which other team has the salary cap space and need for a left OT? If you can't name one then we are bidding against ourselves and Kansas City will be locked in to pay the franchise $9M for this year for Albert. KC won't get the 2nd round draft pick they desire. They also have the dilemma of first pick in the draft where it appears that they desire Joeckel or Fisher. I think that Ireland plays hardball on this one. And if we don't get fat Albert, we can still go for Winston or find someone less expensive in the draft.

More like 5 or 6 mill with performance clauses for 3 years. He has visions of dollar signs which no one will want too give.

And IMO, take a tackle round 2. Proper use of assets and money. Kyle Long and Armstead are both good zone block scheme options.
gtfo. what in this offseason leads you to believe that Aponte is going to panic and give money and picks for someone?

Do not pay Albert. Would rather take chances with rookies and Yeatman, and Winston if he will sign.

Well according to some people here Long was one of the worse tackles in the league and absolutely sucks. So if you can get a good player for the same price as a horrible one why not? If Long is as bad as some "Dolphin fans" say he is than a lot of players should get paid more than he does.

Jake Wrong shouldn't get Jake Wrong money, so I don't see why Fat Albert should. And it costs us a 2nd round pick? Amazing that some still think this is a reasonable deal. It would be nothing but desperation for a position that doesn't warrant such desperation.
