He single handedly stomped the BSU Broncos in game 1 last season. Ever since that game I was convinced.

Nope..he is the same as Thomas..big back that doesn't run with power.

Spartan Fan here. My feeling is that he has been a workhorse throughout his college career and would probably benefit complimenting a quicker back like Miller. He is in the mold of a Daniel Thomas in stature but is more adept at receiving out of the backfield. He is not fast but has good vision and plays smart. The poster above recognized the fact that he was the entire offensive threat last year and still was all-conference. STILL, I WOULDN'T DRAFT HIM UNTIL WE FILLED NEEDS FIRST.

Guy is Daniel Thomas with a spin move. Very inconsistent runner. Huge frame but doesn't play with power.
Jets suck, Bills suck, Patriots suck.

Overrated. I'd take him with our comp 5. Fairly high bust poential, imo.

For a guy his size, he made his college living running to the outside - which is strange and a big red flag. He just wasn't that productive between the tackles. And no way will he be able to get the edge in the NFL like he did in college. Long strider with build-up speed, lacks burst out of cuts (which is why he likes to run horizontally and accelerate gradually to the perimeter where he can run at small college DBs). He also doesn't break nearly enough tackles for his size; he has to be better at that and run with more power to make up for his lack of burst. Just doesn't play as big as he is. I don't see great vision or ability as a cutback guy, either.

If you want a guy who could become a low-end maybe average 3rd-down back, he's an OK choice. Experienced guy who blocks well and is decent catching the ball, soft hands. But no way am I picking him as a guy to hand the ball to 10-15 carries/gm.

we don't need to waste draft picks on running backs... look at all the great RBs taken in later rounds/undrafted.

I have watched every single game of Montee's career and he is NOT a finesse back. He had one of the highest averages in the nation for yards after contact. He runs with good pad level and is powerful through his legs.

    Player

Monte Ball is a much better RB if the Fins are looking at a rd 3 RB.
Not bad. Good burst up the field.

Yeah, he stomped them by 4, coming from behind in the 4th quarter. I'll take that every time with +7.5 points.

Boise State covers again, and again, and again...

Daniel Thomas type. That's close enough. One gear and high. Certainly doesn't play to his size frequently enough. More agile and durable than Thomas, with considerably better receiving skills. Probably would be rated higher if Michigan State's offensive line had been better last year. It wasn't a great group but they had little choice but to keep pounding it with Bell.
