Yahoo- Dolphins surprised by Alberts demands

Negotiations between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, who have interest in offensive tackle Branden Albert, hit a major snag when Albert's contract demands caught the Dolphins off guard. Albert, 28, reportedly has asked for a deal in line with Houston Texans' left tackle Duane Brown (six years, $53 million). The Chiefs used the franchise tag to retain Albert, who was an unrestricted free agent. Albert is unhappy he didn't receive a long-term deal and hasn't reported to offseason workouts.

Lets move on. we can move up with the 54th pick and draft someone better, younger and cheaper.

Pass, I'd rather draft and groom one of our own.

Geez does this guy realize Miami was/is the only team that took him seriously? Furthermore, now that his intentions are known his leverage is likely to go way down during and after the draft.

Anyone have any idea what a fair price would be for someone of his caliber?

If I was Ireland, I would say to his agent. "Thanks for calling. We're not interested anymore. Please don't call us."

He will one day replace Jason Taylor. On the field, not on dancing with the stars.

Thank you Brandon Albert for taking away any doubt we may have had regarding whether we would be making the right move in trading for you. I think we are well on our way to a unanimous........."um, I think we"ll PASS on this one KC".

I think this is all smokescreens. KC doesn't want Albert and first of all to move him, their draft compensation could move down. As for his contract, if no one now is budging at his price, what makes him think he can get more in 2014? I think a deal gets worked out with decent signing money, however, low risk if thet cut him down the road.

We need to address this now - we can't have journeyman play that position

Duane Brown is a pro bowl player, Albert is not.

I don't blame Albert and I doubt the Dolphins are really all that surprised. It's how the game is played. One side has to fold, I just hope it's not the Phins.

The truth is the Dolphins have options, Albert doesn't. I doubt he doesn't know that.
