Breaking Shefter: Fins Looking To Move DOWN (not up)

    from PFT

Draft boards are set by this point.
That means all thatís left is the jockeying for position.
Adam Schefter of ESPN points out what seems obvious in a draft with no sure things, that about half the top 12 want to move down.
Schefter specifically mentioned the Eagles (fourth), Lions (fifth), Browns (sixth), Bills (eighth) and Dolphins (12th) as having made calls trying to trade down.

If thatís the case, the law of supply and demand is about to kick in, making it harder for any of them to get the kind of return theyíd normally want, if anyoneís even willing to move up to the spots they occupy.

ANNOUNCING a new FH smiley. Use it judiciously and selectively as to not diminish its impact!

GOOD. I'd rather move down than move up....as long as we move down into late teens/early 20s and can pickup an early 2nd and 3rd...draft is DEEP this year

What makes you consider this draft deep? Just because the talent drop-off doesnt seem big from the 1st to the 2nd round doesnt mean its deep, it just means the 1st round is weak. You could make a good argument that this 1st round will be one of the least talented 1st rouns in recent memory, yet its somehow deep? I'm not saying you wont be able to find good players in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round this year but as a whole this draft seems awfully weak. Its going to make the draft entertaining because its hard to predict because the talent at the top is weak and the positions that will likely go at the top are "boring". Given what the Dolphins did in FA and given how many picks they have, this seems like a good year to trade up. Not necessarily with the 12th pick but I'd definitely like to see us trade up using those 2nd/3rd round picks. I'd prefer 3 higher picks over 5 picks where we currently sit in the draft. You get Eifert, Trufant and Carradine, sign Winston and go beat some ass this year.

Guessing we try and trade down and then maybe also try and trade back in at the end of the first round if we really like someone still on the board. Ireland should be active.

Well, I hope they know Eifert won't get past the Jets...if that's who they really want, they should stay put.

Draft is deep they can't get the tackles or milliner and probably don't want Austin

Many teams want to trade down, with few looking to trade up. This draft has no star power, with most of the top ten being 10-20 in almost every other draft. I remember the player rankings from a couple moths ago, with Milliner in the 12-15 range, and Eifert in the late teens. I always thought the early rankings were more accurate than the later ones as far as talent.

I think we are gonna be stuck at #12 but will move back into the late first as Bill posted.
