Nice Write Up Miami Dolphins Select Dion Jordan with No. 3

'Despite finishing seventh in the NFL in sacks in 2012 (42.0), the Dolphins must have had Jordan extremely high on their board. After the first two picks came in, general manager Jeff Ireland pulled the trigger on the deal to bring Jordan all the way across the U.S. map to South Beach.
Jordan had 14.5 sacks and 29.0 tackles for loss in his four years under Chip Kelly at Oregon. Drawing comparisons to Jason Taylor by some scouts'

I'm shocked by how little we gave up to go from 12 to 3! Prior to the draft no one would have thought that would be enough. Great move by Ireland!!!

Especially since most sites were reporting heavy trading interest with Oakland at three prior to the start of the draft. Unless that was wishful thinking on Oakland's part.
    Just win.... please!

Ireland is doing the opposite of what he has done in many years. He's not playing it safe, he's drafting playmakers, he is going quantity over quality.

I think I speak for many of us when I say: FINALLY! Good job Jeff.

That is a 600 point differential on the value chart...incredible steal, all that needs to be is this kid to pan out. We can have a freaking nasty defensive line if he lives up to his potential, we were already ranked 7th last season in total sacks. Just adding this guy should easily put us in the top 3. I was a little concerned prior, but I cannot wait for the match up against New England now. This team is going for the division this season.

Oregon likes to use their defenders in a variety of ways. Jordan was a backside chaser and dropped into coverage as much as he relentlessly rushed the passer. I remember being confused about Kaddu last season for the same reason. He was another skinny guy who flashed big plays but looked so light in the pants I wasn't sure how he'd hold up in the NFL.

Don't get me wrong...there's no comparison between Kaddu and Jordan in terms of overall athletic ability and potential. As I posted in the draft forum a few days ago, when you doubt a player who is drafted very high, chances are you'll be wrong. When you doubt a 5th rounder, you'll likely be correct.

Jordan has a big motor and he's quite emotional and team oriented on the field. I just watched one of my Oregon tapes to check that aspect. I was pleased at what it revealed. But I'd be hesitant to expect him to immediately step foot on the field and put up big sack numbers. He'll likely wow with flash athletic ability in the early going. Great wingspan.

He held up well against the run in college but at his current weight that can't happen in the NFL. I'm baffled toward his ideal weight in the NFL.

Love the pick. Now he gets to learn from Wake. Hopefully they can be a great dual threat for years to come.
