Woulda liked Lattimore to eventually replace Thomas. Didn't even realize he was still available. Great late round pick for 49ers. The rich keep on getting richer.
Ireland blew it. Trades Bess and doesn't get a legit replacement for him. Maybe he can at least get the best K and cut Carpenter.
Says dallas thomas coming off injury and cannot play LT in nfl and not sure if he will be a good nfl guard. Says davis was a huge reach got torched at SR bowl when he saw elite nfl talent moved him down to a 6th round pick. Says jenkins was a botched pick serious injury concerns and phins coulda had in his words "second coming of reggie wayne" in patton. Says simms was a decent pick.
The worst thing is they are always right!
That's no great revelation. Hooshoops poster had a thread on this yesterday.
It's pretty obvious when someone doesn't know what they're talking about, the fact of the matter any "fan" will pick like 3 guys they want for a pick (sometimes only 1...) and if the FO doesn't take them it's automatically a bad pick. The first 2 picks could not have been any better, if I had to do the pointless process of grading them I'd go:
1. Dion Jordan - A : Impact player at an impact position. Basically got handed the pick, perfect pick.
2. Jamar Taylor - A+ : Top corner left on the board, thought he'd go back end of round 1. Could come away as the best corner in this draft once he bulks up.
3a. Dallas Thomas - B : I like Thomas and we need some help on the line for our impending FA's, plus he could slide out to tackle. We did miss out on Wheaton and Bailey who would've been nice, and a couple solid NT prospects. Honestly either Thomas or Wheaton would've been my pick.
3b. Will Davis - C- : This one was a head scratcher and we gave up too many picks for a guy who would've likely been there come round 4. Left Brandon Williams and Quinton Patton on the board (which was a common trend) as well as some good running backs.
4a. Jelani Jenkins - B- : Like him, good in coverage. But once again solid offensive playmakers are on the board that we should've thrown into the mix at either RB or WR.
4b. Dion Sims - B+ : We needed a solid blocking tight end, Sims is average in this regard when considering his size but he's an athletic big man that can help in the redzone.
So thus far this is a B+ draft, do some evaluation if you're gonna spout nonsense.
