We, like all NFL fans, are in that after draft period called "OMG, we love our UDFAs".
Couldn't be rid of spitler and Trusnik soon enough
Dion Jordan, Josh Kaddu and Michael Clay are all from University of Oregon. All fast tackling defensive Ducks are welcome here.
That song reminded me of this .... Now they are both stuck in my head...
There is a change in drafting philosophy...Coyle has given his input to Ireland and his scouting department. It is not a coincidence that we have targeted Oregon Duck players. From Kiddu, Alonzo, Jordan, Clay; they have seen the pistol and read-option every practice for the past couple of years in Eugene.
Only 2 years ago, Ireland would have never looked for undersized - below 6'2 - type linebackers. He would always look for the 6"2+ "prototypical" linebacker that was a prodder who could stop the run first and foremost like Misi. Instead of following the examples set by the league, we are ahead of the curve. Coyle recognizes that to slow down the pistol formation, he needs fast and sure tackling linebackers to shoot the gaps. Clay is a "pistol" destroyer.
How did this kid go undrafted?...he looks fast and he looks stronger that Jordan. All of our LB's seem to be fast now.
so this guy cant go to a majority of OTA's either?
Really sucks for a UDFA guy trying to make a team. I just learned about that rule today, and it sucks for the Oregon players and other schools on a quarterly system.
edit- this is the rule
Why in the hell did they draft Will Davis over this guy?
