Bill Belichick on "putting the tape on"
Thread of the Year candidate?
Mackenzie, I like your passion for evaluating the players. You can't teach passion, it's innate.
You have taken a strong negative stance against Jordan and you have solid reasons, but please be open to the possibility that you are wrong. Jordan should be viewed as a work in progress, not a final product. He will fill out and get stronger, but his height and speed are natural. Elite pass rushing DEs are rare and hard to find, but there is a reason why Ireland has bet big on moving up to draft him.
My other thought is that if you want to become a professional scout, you should study some of the psychometric tools to help evaluate personality. (Myers Briggs is a good one to start with). Talent evaluation is a lot more than just what they do on the field. If the recent Hernandez debacle has taught us anything, it's that the importance in correctly evaluating the personality component of the players, is a major part of the evaluation.
Don't lose your passion for evaluating the talent. (One day you might be working for the Dolphins).
Pleasant surprise to see a 16 yr. old kid with good writing and communication skills, but I'm hoping he's wrong!
And I also acknowledge that I have no idea how to evaluate character, and I currently am in no position to learn. I have never met these people. I am in no position to evaluate character (same goes for injuries, since I'm not a doctor).
