    Question Stadium Questions

I am a little confused as to the happenings of the potential renovations at Sun Life Stadium. If anyone can answer these questions that would be great.

    1) When will we know if they will go-ahead with the plans to renovate?

    2) If approved, when will construction be completed?

    3) What else would we see, in terms of major changes, other than the shaded "roof"?

    Thank you

The referendum is in about 2 weeks. After the vote, we will have a better idea.

Seats closer to the field which would be huge, and I believe new video screens, they are taking some of the seats off the top I think

I don't think you would see any changes until next season, at the least.

    1. Three things still stand in the way of getting the final go ahead. The biggest obstacle might be what is happening this week. The Senate approved the referendum vote on Monday, but it still needs to get approved by the House and that sounds like it is 50/50 on happening. No approval from them and the whole thing dies, and we should know that by this Friday. If the House approves it, then it goes to a public vote on May 14th, again that is probably a 50/50 chance of passing. Lastly, if the House approves it and the voters approve it, the next critical date is May 22nd. That is when the NFL owners award Super Bowl 50 and Super Bowl 51. Part of the deal is that Miami needs to be awarded one of those two games for the renovations to happen. If the owners don't give Miami one of those games, the whole thing dies. There are still a lot of hurdles to clear and some might consider it a longshot that the renovations happen.

    2. If the renovations happen, construction will begin this summer. It will be completed for the start of the 2015 season.

    3. Shaded roof, new seats, seats closer to the field, new scoreboards, new lighting, new sound, among other things.

**** the Marlins. Baseball is a dying sport, look at that joke of a franchise, I see recaps of their home games on SportsCenter and they are lucky to draw FIVE HUNDRED people. Pathetic. They killed this deal for us.

LOL @ Blaming the Marlins. Typical stuff here.

People always blaming the wrong problem. Marlins hoodwinked Miami-Dade no doubt, but they didn't do anything that everyone else doesn't do in America. They took advantage of very stupid people. That's it. That's how you get ahead in America.

County officials in Miami-Dade have been incredibly stupid for many many years. They were dumb before the Marlins deal and they're stupid after it. All that needs to happen now is for Ross and Company to take advantage of those bozos like the Marlins did.

How can they play in a stadium that is under renovations? Will they play in a different venue until its complete?

    Hinging on approval I mean.
