mainly to get rid of his contract and with the tagging albert and planning on drafting OT with the first pick.. he was the obvious cut

here is winstons thinking behind his release

Nope, just a visit. If I'm scheduling a visit, while I have you at the facility, I'm going to work you out right there and than..

I think they felt they could easily get a 2nd round pick for ALbert. That backfired and now they are stuck with no leverage.

Per Brian McIntyre, Winston was scheduled to earn $4.9 million in base salary with a $100,000 workout bonus and $500,000 in "per game" roster bonuses in 2013. By releasing Winston, the Chiefs will save $5.5 million in cash and $3.5 million in cap space as the remaining $3 million in proration from his $4 million signing bonus in 2012 is accelerated onto the Chiefs' salary cap.

They e been doing that. It's the number of years is what's the issue.

Thanks for the info. So I assume he had a pretty solid year last year at right tackle. I think there is something everyone is missing because I remember we looked at him last year before he signed with KC .

Winston to work out for us tomorrow

Is this a sign that we are not necessarily looking for a one year stop gap at RT and are willing to offer a multiple year deal? I think it comes down between Clabo and Winston, if the reports of Clabo's visit tonight is accurate. Clabo and Winston are both better RTs than Martin.........is it possible that they both translate to better LTs than Martin as well? Something to think about.

Solid veteran pickup.. Put the best 5 lineman on the field and let's roll with it. We're gonna need these lineman and Keller to stay healthy this year if we're gonna reach our full potential
